1. Evaluation- Question 6
What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. How has this ‘new’ technology enabled you to achieve
your task?
The new technology has enabled me to achieve my task in a much quicker way then what it would of
done before all of the new technology. If we had to do it all by hand, the writing and the cutting and
sticking down, then it would of took a lot longer then it does now. The type of camera that I used was very
important as to getting the right image, but also being able to see straight away after to see what it looks
like and whether I needed to do it again. The camera that I used was my own Digital SLR, which produces
high quality images, so that they can look professional. By using one of these cameras instead of my
phone for example, it has enabled me to get that high quality image that I want for my magazine to make
it look professional.
3. Use of Adobe InDesign
InDesign
There are only a few things that I have learnt in
InDesign that I didn’t know how to do before I
had done this task. The main effect that I didn’t
know who to do before I had done this task was
how to wrap text around the image. In order to
do this the first thing that I had to do was
change the tool bar from ‘Essentials’ to
‘Typography’. Once I had done this, it gave me a
lot more options down in the right hand bar. I
then had to click on a tool called ‘text wrap’
which as you can see in the screen shot, it gives
you another small box. All I had to do then was
set the distance that I want my text from the
picture and what side I want it on.
The other thing that I learnt in InDesign was
that you can have a picture as a background but
it is very faint. In order to do this first I had to
drag the picture onto InDesign and to were I
wanted it. Then after looking for quite a long
time as to were it was, all I had to do was right
click then go under effects then
transparency, and change it to what I wanted it
to be.
4. Use of Adobe Photoshop
Photoshop
Like in InDesign there is only really one thing
that I have learnt in Photoshop before doing
this task. I didn’t know how to do was how
to cut a person out from a background so
that they are by themselves. The first thing
that I had to do was use the ‘magic wand
tool’ which allows you to select the outside
of a figure.
The next thing that I had to do was right click
it and then press ‘select inverse’ and layer it
via copy.
If the ‘magic wand tool’ doesn’t delete all of
the background, then what I had to do was
just simply use the easier tool and zoom in
quite close, and carefully go around her.
5. Did blogging help you to present your research and planning in a clear and
coherent way?
I think that by blogging everything that I have done has most definitely helped me present my research
and planning in a clear way. By using blogger it shows everything that I have done in order and in a
represent able way. It also shows the time and date of everything which is very useful for me if I forget
anything.
Did using blogging help you to keep track of what you have learnt?
I wouldn’t say that it has helped me keep track of what I have learnt, but it has helped me keep track of
what I have or haven’t done. It has also helped me with time management, and when I need to get things
done.
How has technology been useful in helping you produce a stimulating and interactive
Evaluation?
Technology has been very helpful in producing me evaluation. For my evaluation I have used a few
different types of ways to produce my answers to the questions. I have used Prezi which I had never used
before I started to do media, so that was quite interesting to try and do. I have also used a video recording
for one of my answers, which I then had to upload onto YouTube to then put into a Prezi. The other one
that I used was Microsoft Power Point, which I then had to upload onto slideshare to then put it on my
blog.
