1. Bernardus Cornelius Botes (Barry), is a professional, Lead Specialist, Instrumentation and
Electrical Maintenance at CoE-GTL, Sasol International, South-Africa. He is a National Diploma
Holder for Instrumentation & Controls with 25 years of Instrumentation & Electrical experience
within the GTL environment. He has joined the first GTL plant Operations Team in South-Africa
in 1989 and has since then gained Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Startup and
maintenance experience with GTL Plants and various Technologies employed. This also
included the setting up of a full maintenance business within the operations divisions for both
GTL companies worked for before rejoining Sasol- CoE for GTL`s. His best achievements within
the GTL environment was to take plants through startup phase and continue implementing
improvements to E & I systems and equipment to improve reliability and availability and therefor
achieve plant through put stability . World class safety achievements throughout his career have
been well recognized and appreciated.
