& PITCH
BEN CLAYTON
YOU SHOULD USE THIS TO STRUCTURE YOUR STAGE 1
RESPONSE. ADD SLIDES WHERE NECESSARY AND
ILLUSTRATIONS. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS CLICK ON THE
BOX UNDER THE QUESTION/INFO!
OUTLINE
My film idea is simply a dream. My friend Jamie will be playing the main actor. The movie will
begin with a birds eye view of Jamie waking within the dream in a field. He will then stand with
Confusion as he will be confused where he is. It will then go to a first person perspective of Jamie
looking around and noticing a figure in all black stood in the distance running towards him. The
camera view will then swipe to Jamie running away towards a forest. There will be a chase seq-
uence in the woods until Jamie falls to the floor. Then it will cut away to the man in all black
walking towards him but Jamie jumping back up with a stick in his hand. The man in black
then notices a stick to use to defend him self. Then intense fight music will start an the battle will
commence like a fight from Star Wars but sticks not light sabers. After lots of dramatic fighting
the man in black finally makes a hit to the leg putting Jamie to his knees where it will go back to
a first person perspective of Jamie taking a smack to the face of the stick but cutting just before
the hit to Jamie waking scared in his bed at home.
MARKET FIT
My film genre is action. After lots of researching into this
genre and other similar films I have found that my product
fits within the genre perfectly. My film is very different still to
other films I have researched but with some elements such
as a fight scene and it being very fast pass. Since the
structure and story of my film is so simple compared to what
I have looked at such as Gladiator and the Sherlock Holmes
movies which both have a deeper message behind them and
grab different audiences from this and the plot of the film. I
feel my film will target the younger audience as it simple and
does not rely on the story but the visuals making it harder to
fit within a specific market.
RIP-O-MATIC – SIMILAR CONCEPTS

CHARACTERS
Jamie: Jamie is the main character. He is 18 and is finishing
college to go to university. He has been stressing about his
exams and his get away has been his crazy dreams. The film
is about one of Jamie’s dreams.
Man in Black: will be wearing nothing but black and is never
shown who he is and don’t find out anything or need to know
anything about him.
TARGET AUDIENCE
My target audience is based at teenagers more so being 12-21.
As the film contains nothing graphic or any issues but will have
aspects of fighting and on edge action for the chase scenes
making it unsuitable for too young but can make it more
enjoyable for slightly older audience. After researching within to
similar movies of where I got ideas to implement into my movie,
I found out a very large audience but that’s from the size of the
movie with its fan base so I researched into several films with
different styles all linking to mine and I found out that the
audience is similar to what I want being within the teenager
years. I also researched within games that have used cut scenes
which has also given me influenced and have looked who
enjoys those games and again concludes that I will be aiming
my film towards 12-21.
LOCATIONS
I will be shooting in two locations for my film but the second
location only needs one shot and will take no more than 10 minutes
to film as it the very last shot which last no more than 3
seconds(Jamie awaking from the dream). My main location for
shooting is The Planet Cycle Route where we will be walking down
to get to a certain bridge with the forest and field I will be filming in.
As I will be filming within the forest the ground will be awkward at
times for getting a level shot so I will be bringing my gorilla pod too
which will allow me to get shots within the environment which
would usually have issues. I have also made sure that I can film at
the college just in case I need to for emergency in case of trouble
with weather on shooting day. I will also be filming within Jamie’s
bedroom at his house for the last scene of him waking in his bed
which will be no issue as that can be filmed within any time and
only needs me to film him.
RESOURCES
I am going to need a balaclava for my man in black character
as he needs to be unidentifiable and be only dressed in
black. I have black clothing for the rest of the character and
the rest of the costume is already got.
I will not need to book out any camera equipment as it will be
all filmed with my own gear.
CREW
REQUIREMENTS
Matthew Darley/Charles Stick: Matt and Charles will be my
film crew. I only need one person to film but they would like
to help as return for me helping with theirs so if one cant
make my film day I have a backup anyway.
Patrick Dewhirst: Back up Actor and camera man who will
help us carry equipment also and wanted to come help with
the production.
I have chosen these people as they have all helped with
previous work on my music video and corporate video so I
know how they work and that they will be reliable for me to
work with them again on this project.
CAST REQUIREMENTS
My film will be starring to actors, myself and Jamie Allen.
Jamie will be playing the main character and I will be playing
the man in black. I chose Jamie as he is the smallest person I
know who would be happy to be an actor in my film. I needed
a short character the emphasise my height of being the man
in black to look more scary if he can tower over Jamie in
some shots. Me and Jamie are also good friends who will be
able to act well together even with no dialogue and purely
acting as well as when we have to have the stick fight for the
end fight scene Jamie is perfect. This is because me and
Jamie used to play as kids with pretend swords and will be
able to create a dramatic fight scene without anyone actually
getting hit which might be difficult with someone who
doesn’t know how I want the fight to go.

FOOD & DRINK ÂŁ15.00

SCHEDULE
I am going to be planning on dates within the next half term
as I have asked my cast/crew are all free within the half term
and allows to have a full day instead of having to do it after
or before college which would make it very rushed for time
as my location will take some time to get too and needs to be
filmed within the day time.

It will then go to a first person perspective of Jamie looking around and noticing a figure in all black stood in the distance running towards him. Then it will cut away to the man in all black walking towards him but Jamie jumping back up with a stick in his hand. The man in black then notices a stick to use to defend him self. Then intense fight music will start an the battle will commence like a fight from Star Wars but sticks not light sabers. After lots of dramatic fighting the man in black finally makes a hit to the leg putting Jamie to his knees where it will go back to a first person perspective of Jamie taking a smack to the face of the stick but cutting just before the hit to Jamie waking scared in his bed at home.
  • 3. MARKET FIT My film genre is action. After lots of researching into this genre and other similar films I have found that my product fits within the genre perfectly. My film is very different still to other films I have researched but with some elements such as a fight scene and it being very fast pass. Since the structure and story of my film is so simple compared to what I have looked at such as Gladiator and the Sherlock Holmes movies which both have a deeper message behind them and grab different audiences from this and the plot of the film. I feel my film will target the younger audience as it simple and does not rely on the story but the visuals making it harder to fit within a specific market.

  • 5. CHARACTERS Jamie: Jamie is the main character. He is 18 and is finishing college to go to university. He has been stressing about his exams and his get away has been his crazy dreams. The film is about one of Jamie’s dreams. Man in Black: will be wearing nothing but black and is never shown who he is and don’t find out anything or need to know anything about him.
  • 6. TARGET AUDIENCE My target audience is based at teenagers more so being 12-21. As the film contains nothing graphic or any issues but will have aspects of fighting and on edge action for the chase scenes making it unsuitable for too young but can make it more enjoyable for slightly older audience. After researching within to similar movies of where I got ideas to implement into my movie, I found out a very large audience but that’s from the size of the movie with its fan base so I researched into several films with different styles all linking to mine and I found out that the audience is similar to what I want being within the teenager years. I also researched within games that have used cut scenes which has also given me influenced and have looked who enjoys those games and again concludes that I will be aiming my film towards 12-21.
  • 7. LOCATIONS I will be shooting in two locations for my film but the second location only needs one shot and will take no more than 10 minutes to film as it the very last shot which last no more than 3 seconds(Jamie awaking from the dream). My main location for shooting is The Planet Cycle Route where we will be walking down to get to a certain bridge with the forest and field I will be filming in. As I will be filming within the forest the ground will be awkward at times for getting a level shot so I will be bringing my gorilla pod too which will allow me to get shots within the environment which would usually have issues. I have also made sure that I can film at the college just in case I need to for emergency in case of trouble with weather on shooting day. I will also be filming within Jamie’s bedroom at his house for the last scene of him waking in his bed which will be no issue as that can be filmed within any time and only needs me to film him.
  • 8. RESOURCES I am going to need a balaclava for my man in black character as he needs to be unidentifiable and be only dressed in black. I have black clothing for the rest of the character and the rest of the costume is already got. I will not need to book out any camera equipment as it will be all filmed with my own gear.
  • 9. CREW REQUIREMENTS Matthew Darley/Charles Stick: Matt and Charles will be my film crew. I only need one person to film but they would like to help as return for me helping with theirs so if one cant make my film day I have a backup anyway. Patrick Dewhirst: Back up Actor and camera man who will help us carry equipment also and wanted to come help with the production. I have chosen these people as they have all helped with previous work on my music video and corporate video so I know how they work and that they will be reliable for me to work with them again on this project.
  • 10. CAST REQUIREMENTS My film will be starring to actors, myself and Jamie Allen. Jamie will be playing the main character and I will be playing the man in black. I chose Jamie as he is the smallest person I know who would be happy to be an actor in my film. I needed a short character the emphasise my height of being the man in black to look more scary if he can tower over Jamie in some shots. Me and Jamie are also good friends who will be able to act well together even with no dialogue and purely acting as well as when we have to have the stick fight for the end fight scene Jamie is perfect. This is because me and Jamie used to play as kids with pretend swords and will be able to create a dramatic fight scene without anyone actually getting hit which might be difficult with someone who doesn’t know how I want the fight to go.

  • 12. SCHEDULE I am going to be planning on dates within the next half term as I have asked my cast/crew are all free within the half term and allows to have a full day instead of having to do it after or before college which would make it very rushed for time as my location will take some time to get too and needs to be filmed within the day time.
