Mr. Alan Urech is a Senior Executive with over 35 years of experience successfully developing and
commercializing entrepreneurial businesses, many in the healthcare IT industry. He supports the growth and
commercialization of these organizations by using his strong strategic, tactical and operational leadership skills,
proven business methodologies and best practice expertise in addition to proprietary growth tools that he has
developed. These proprietary business tools include 55 focused Business Templates he created to help young
organizations transition into strong, thriving, scalable and successful growing businesses.
His background includes direct administrative hospital experience in addition to startup experience. He was part
of HBO & Company, a healthcare information technology company, where he helped drive the organization’s
expansion from an initial startup of under US$3 million in 1978 to over $180 million dollars in revenue within 12
years. During this period, Mr. Urech was instrumental in developing very successful healthcare information
technology product lines in for the laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, decision support and financial healthcare
areas. These product lines significantly expanded the Company’s overall corporate market presence and
profitability. HBOC was sold in 1998 for US$13.8 Billion to McKesson Corporation, starting their information
technology division. McKesson is currently the world's leading provider of health information technology
systems.
Mr. Urech is the Managing Partner and Principal at Stoney River Capital Partners LLC (SRCP), an Angel-backed
consultancy. SRCP provides senior level management for investment funding strategies, corporate growth
planning, plan implementation, investment capital and exit strategies to young viable entrepreneurial seed, start-
up and expanding businesses. Its focus is to help them successfully communicate and transition the company’s
business opportunity through successful product/service commercialization and potentially harvest.
Mr. Urech is also an investor in numerous businesses including 200 Peachtree. The 200,000 square foot event
center, conference center and retail space is located in the former downtown Atlanta, GA. Macy's building at 200
Peachtree Street.
He is on numerous boards including the TAG Health Board of Directors, Georgia State University's Health
Institute Advisory Board and Georgia State University's Center for Health Information Technology Advisory BOD.
He is a frequent judge at Business Plan competitions including the Georgia Bowl, Concept-2-Reality Competition
and the Global Venture Labs Investment Competition (formerly the Moot Bowl) in Austin, TX, where 40 countries
compete. He gives numerous lectures on Entrepreneurship in addition to moderating panels on Innovation. Mr.
Urech also worked at the Vatican in Vatican City for four years from 1999 - 2003 as part of a team developing the
Roman Catholic Church's internet communication strategies. In addition he was the volunteer Chairman and
President of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of North Georgia's council from 1996 - 2002.
Mr. Urech is on the faculty at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business. He instructs
Graduate and Undergraduate level programs in entrepreneurship through the University's Herman J. Russell, Sr.
International Center for Entrepreneurship.
He holds a MHA from Central Michigan University, a BS from Northern Illinois University and is a registered
Medical Technologist, MT(ASCP).
