The Team
The Global Health Technology team ("Health Tech") is a new group created and based in the San
Francisco Bay Area to drive strategic adoption of technology across the J&J Enterprise with all three
sector teams (Pharma, Medical Device and Consumer). The team is comprised primarily of experienced
operating leaders from successful technology companies. The team partners with commercial and R&D
leaders to identify opportunities to use technology to innovatively address health and wellness
challenges at global scale, and develops the strategic and operational plans around those opportunities
and executes the applicable product, program, partnership, investment and acquisition needs. Health
Tech is comprised of 4 main sub-teams: Strategy & Business Operations, Partnerships & Corporate
Development, Program Management and Product.
Externs will be a part of the main Health Tech team and get to shape J&J's future. You will help design
your projects and then work over the course of your externship to solve them and make a
recommendation to our business leaders. Our team lets you bring your whole self to work and values

The Role
The Health Tech Strategy team is looking to add an extern for a great experience in developing their
skills as well as furthering our business objectives. As a Strategy Manager during your externship, you
will own your project from the idea generation, to gathering data, driving insights, and making strategic
2. recommendations to impact the business. You will partner with our existing team of Managers to
understand the business and get a sense for how J&J operates. In this role you will partner with our VP
of Health Tech Strategy to drive insights that shape the business or lead an implementation of an
existing recommendation.
This role will have real impact in transforming how consumers, doctors, and organizations utilize
technology to improve health and wellness at scale. In addition to developing business and operational
strategy around technology, you’ll also collaborate on product strategy and play a first-hand role in
driving new technology to launch and adoption.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with Global Head of Health Tech Strategy to develop a strategic framework for
technology advancement and adoption
• Gather and synthesize relevant data, lead analyses, and develop final recommendations around
strategic and operational technology initiatives
• Facilitate development of key components including vision, key milestones, competitive analysis
and identification of business model enhancements leading to a sustainable competitive
advantage
• Bring insights and analytics to respond to external marketplace trends across the broader
technology landscape – new technology, pricing, segmentation and opportunities for revenue
growth
• Drive operational excellence and flawless execution across the business, hitting or surpassing
metrics
• Persuasively communicate actionable strategy recommendations to relevant business units and
executive management across the broader organization
• Be an agent for change and move teams to action; develop plan and implement strategic
recommendations and initiatives to drive technology adoption and use
Requirements
• 3-5 years in management consulting, strategic planning or investment banking
• Prior operating experience in a technology is a plus
• Graduation from a top-tier college or university
• Ability to drive complex, cross-functional projects to rapid completion
• Ability to break down problems and structure comprehensive solutions
• Quantitative modeling and data manipulation skills
• Expertise with Excel and Powerpoint
• Strong communication skills with ability to present to executives
• Positive attitude, comfort with ambiguity, and a bias for action
