2. • New Musical Express, popularly known by the customers as NME, which was created
by Theodore Ingham, is a weekly music journalism publication, it has been published
since March 1952.
• It is largely associated with with rock, alternative and indie music.
• Originally started as a music newspaper and moved to a magazine format during the
1980’s and 90’s.
• Was the first ever British paper which included a singles chart in 14th November 1952
edition.
• In the 1970’s NME became the best-selling British music newspaper.
• In 1996 NME was created online known as NME.com, which is now the worlds
biggest standalone music site with over 7 million users per month.

4. NME music magazine mainly focuses on three different types of music genres,
these three are:
•Rock
•Alternative
•Indie rock
Rock is a genre of popular music which originated as “rock and roll” from the
United States in the 1950’s, which developed more styles in the 1960’s in the
United Kingdom.
Alternative is a genre of rock music which emerged from the independent music
underground in the 1980’s and became very popular in the 1990’s.
Indie rock is a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United kingdom in
the 1980’s, it is extremely diverse with other sub-genres.

5. NME have built a consistent reputation that now every customer who enters the
magazine shop weekly knows there will always be a new magazine on the shelf
every week. The style has been created so NME is easily recognizable that you
don’t have to pick the magazine off the shelf to know who it is made by, the
bright red, three lettered logo is so easily recognizable that seven million users
are reported to use the website each and every month.
When NME originally started as a newspaper in 1952 the original logo (as seen
above) used to have the slogan inside the logo to let the customer know who the
producer of the newspaper was, however now the publisher's have changed the
logo so that only NME is visible in the original red color with a black outline.

6. NME Magazine reach over 7 million users a month online whereas in store the
circulation of magazines being sold was measured at 23,924 and declining, this is
mainly because the advance of technology where many people find it easier to
subscribe online to get the new magazine on their mobile rather than travelling to
a nearby store to pick up the actual magazine.
NME magazine is owned by a separate company called Timeincuk who help with
the distribution rights to Europe, the United states, the Middle East and Asia.
