๏ถThe difference between the sale price of a finished product
and the cost of producing it (Porter, 1980)
๏ถA series of progressing activities or processes which aim at
creating and adding value to a product at every step during
the production process towards a finished product and
must also occur in the proper order (Ensign, 2001)
๏ถAs coffee moves along the different stages of the value
chain, it results in the higher price of the product owing to
the value added to it.
โข Coffee value addition at the higher end of the value chain
entails: Blending, roasting, grinding, branding and
packaging coffee for consumption
