Vehicle Specification
Aim :- To design and fabricate a hand held grabbing mechanism to facilitate the
ease in pick of article of different shapes
5. Description of Vehicle Desgin
The design being presented as a three wheeler and two seater vehicle powered by a 50cc engine. The vehicle
has two wheels on the rear side and one wheel on the front side having a front wheel drive (FWD)
mechanism. The handle mechanism is used for controlling the direction of movement of vehicle
The engine assembly is situated in the middle of the vehicle whereas the seat of the hand mechanism
controller and the hand mechanism is mounted on the right side of the driver’s seat at the same level. In
order to balance the weight and provide stability while moving and turning, the major weight concentration
is at the center of the vehicle.
7. Description of Grabbing
Mechanism
Our handheld grabbing mechanism consists of a series of 7 links and 7 pin joints, carefully designed
to convert the linear motion of the hand into the revolute motion of the claws. The C-shaped claws are
connected to the base at the corners using pin joints and bearings to ensure smooth and efficient motion.
We have also incorporated connecting parts that enable precise control of the claws' revolute motion using
an additional pin joint on the other side.
To connect the claws to the hand-holding linear rod, we have used a rectangular link with 3 pin joints that
facilitate the movement of the connecting parts, and a straight long link that connects the entire mechanism
to the base. With this setup, our grabbing mechanism allows for quick and precise grasping and releasing of
objects, which is crucial for competing in events like Junkyard Warz.
Overall, our design is a testament to our careful attention to detail and engineering expertise. We are
confident that our mechanism will perform exceptionally well in the competition, and we look forward to
putting it to the test.
19. Special Fetures of Vehicle
Instead of attaching the engine assembly to the center of the vehicle, we attached it at the left side of the
vehicle. Due to this, we have enough space for the hand mechanism controller. But, the center of mass shifts
towards the left side. To overcome this problem we attach our mechanism on the right side.
Flexibility in the mechanism will help us handle a wider range of working space. The hand mechanism can
rotate in all three dimensions according to our goal.
The use of wooden sticks and other wooden materials will make our vehicle more light and economical.
An easily controllable hand mechanism is used in the vehicle.
Cost-efficient, high strength and compact design.
20. Development of Junk
1.Engine: The 50 cc small engine is connected in the middle of the vehicle.
2.Tires: There is one wheel at the front side and two wheels at the back.
3.Bearing: Ball bearings are used to facilitate rolling elements for smooth radial or axial
motion within a spinning system.
4.Wooden plank: It is used for connection, for providing elevations and to make a platform
for the mechanism.
5.Iron rods and Plates: They are used to make the chassis.
6.PVC: PVC is material of the pipe.
7.Strings and pulleys.
8.Nuts and bolts.
9.Chairs for the driver’s and helper’s seat.
10.Hand gloves
21. Use of Facilities Provided
1.Arc Welding Machine: To make joints at various points of the vehicle and for cutting down pieces
of iron rod. Therefore it is deployed for both welding and cutting.
2.Drilling Machine: It will be used in making holes for the rear wheel arrangement and at various
other places.
3.Milling Machine: It will be used to change the thickness of metal rod, which may be required to
hinge the joints along the seat.
4.Lathe Machine: It is used for turning, levelling, drilling, and milling of iron bars.
5.Carpentry Shop: It will be used for shaping the wooden material.
