2. Introduction
Fuel-Substances which provide energy on burning in air are called
fuels. They are of various types.
Solid Fuel –Wood, Coal, Charcoal and cow dung cake are example of
solid fuels.
Liquid Fuel- Such as Kerosene, petrol and diesel.
Gaseous Fuel- CNG and LPG are gaseous fuels.

easily catch fire are called inflammable substances.
Ex- Alcohol and petrol

The amount of heat energy produced on
the complete combustion of 1Kg of a fuel is
called its calorific value.
The calorific value of a fuel is expressed
in a unit called kilojoule per kg (kJ/kg)
