Exhaustible
Resources
An exhaustible resource is
not replaceable.
And other resources then
wind, sunlight and water
are exhaustible resources.
Inexhaustible
Resources
An inexhaustible
resource is one that is
replaceable.
 Hence wind, sunlight and
water are inexhaustible
resources

3. COAL
Coal is a combustible black or brownish-
black sedimentary rock, formed as rock
strata called coal seams. Coal is mostly
carbon with variable amounts of other
elements; chiefly hydrogen, sulfur, oxygen,
and nitrogen.
Coal is classified as a nonrenewable energy
source because it takes millions of years to
form. The resulting pressure and heat turned
the plants into the substance we call coal.

4. STORY OF COAL
The history of coal mining goes back
thousands of years. It became important in the
Industrial Revolution of the 19th and 20th
centuries, when it was primarily used to power
steam engines, heat buildings and generate
electricity. Coal mining continues as an
important economic activity today.

It is produced by heating coal
(bituminous coal)around 1573
kelvin in the absence of air.
It is a tough, porous and black
substance. It is almost pure
from Carbon.
It is used to manufacture steel
and in extration of many
metals
2.COAL TAR
It is a thick black liquid with
an unpleasant smell.
It is mixture of about 200
substance.
Uses
Vicks, drugs, explosives,
paints, vanishers, plastic,
synthetic fiber etc.

7. 3.Coal Gas
It is obtained during the processing of coal to get coke.
It is used as a fuel in many industries situated near the
coal processing plants.
It is a mixture of carbon monoxide, methane and
hydrogen.
Also used as lightening process.

8. PETROLEUM
Petroleum is naturally occurring, flammable liquid that are found
geologic formations beneath the earth surface.
The word petroleum is derived from Petra (rock) and oleum (oil).
It was created when sea creatures died and got covered with sand
and clay, Under high pressure these organisms changed into
petroleum and natural gas.

9. Refining Of Petroleum
Petroleum is a dark oily liquid. It has an unpleasant odour.
It is a mixture of various constituents.
Separating the various constituents fractions of petroleum is
known as refining, It is carried out in the petroleum refinery.

11. Oil Well
An oil well is a general term for any boring of the Earth surface
that is designed to find an acquire petroleum oil hydrocarbons.
It is used to pump out petroleum

Crude oil and refined fuel spills from tanker ships accidents have
damaged natural ecosystem in many places

14. Natural Gas
Natural gas is very important fossil fuel because it is easy to
transport through pipes.
Natural gas is stored under high pressure as compressed natural
gas (CNG).
CNG is used for power generation, It is used as transport fuel.
The great advantage of CNG is that it can be used directly for
burning in homes and factories where it can be supplied through
pipes.
