This document provides an overview of artificial intelligence, including its definition, goals, types (strong vs weak AI), history, advantages, disadvantages, real-life applications, and future. It defines AI as systems that mimic human intelligence to perform tasks and improve over time. The goals of AI are to create expert systems and implement human intelligence in machines. Real-life applications discussed include speech recognition, face recognition, AI in gaming, and robotics. The future of AI may include reaching human levels in specific tasks, replacing all human jobs, becoming fully autonomous, and potential mind uploading.
2. TABLE OF CONTENT
1. INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY OF AI
2. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF AI
3. REAL LIFE APPLICATIONS
4. FUTURE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
3. WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?
Artificial Intelligence refers to systems or machines that mimic human intelligence
to perform tasks and can iteratively improve themselves based on the information
they collect.
This generally involves borrowing
characteristics from human
intelligence, and applying them as
algorithms in a computer friendly way.
EXAMPLE- VOICE RECOGNITION,
FACE RECOGNITION.
4. GOALS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
• TO CREATE EXPERT SYSTEMS – The systems which exhibit
intelligent behaviour, learn, demonstrate, explain, and
advice its users.
• TO IMPLEMENT HUMAN INTELLIGENCE IN MACHINES – Creating
systems that understand, think, learn, and behave like
humans.
5. TYPES OF AI
STRONG AI :
Strong AI is about building a machine that is capable of emulating the human mind to
such an extent that it matches or exceeds it.
Strong AI is machine intelligence with full range of human intelligence.
Example : Conscious Machines, Ability to Reason.
WEAK AI:
Weak AI is a system that uses a set of pre-programmed rules to apply them
to any tasks, to reach a successful fulfilment.
Simply say that its collection of “If this, then that” rules of rationality.
EXAMPLE : Digital voioce assistants (siri, alexa), Chatbots.
9. REAL LIFE APPLICATIONS OF AI :-
1. SPEECH RECOGNITION
The goal of speech recognition research is to allow computers to
understand human speech. So that they can hear our voices and
recognize the words we are speaking.
EXAMPLE –
VOICE ASSISTANTS LIKE
SIRI AND GOOGLE HOME.
10. 2. FACE RECOGNITION
It works by identifying and measuring facial features in an image.
Facial recognition can identify human faces in images or videos,
determine if the face in two images belongs to the same person, or
search for a face among a large collection of existing images.
EXAMPLE –
SMARTPHONES AND
SECURITY CAMERAS
11. 3. AI IN GAMING
AI in gaming refers to responsive and adaptive video game
experiences. These AI-powered interactive experiences are usually
generated via non-player characters (NPC) that act intelligently or
creatively, as if controlled by a human game-player. AI is the engine
that determines an NPC's behavior in the game world.
EXAMPLE –
COMPUTER CHESS,
AKINATOR
12. 4. ROBOTICS
AI provides robots with adequate computer vision and
motion control to better understand the environment and act
accordingly.
EXAMPLE –
AMECA AND
SOPHIA
13. Recently, the captcha system was
successfully cracked by an algorithm
developed by an A.I firm, Vicarious. It
recognized the text CAPTCHA with
91% accuracy. (Human Accuracy
stands at 70%)
When scientists at GOOGLE’S SECRET
LAB built a brain simulation with 16000
computers with 1 billion connections,
the computer particularly identified
pictures of Cats, Recognized human,
their body parts and objects too!
14. FUTURE OF AI -
In the next recent years, technologies in narrow fields such as speech
recognition will continue to improve and will reach human levels.
It will replace all human jobs.
AI does not require human intervention.
AI is programmed to do something destructive.
MIND UPLOADING – TRANSFERRING OUR BRAIN TO A DIGITAL
STORAGE MEDIUM AND MOVING CONSCIOUS MEMORY FROM ONE TO
ANOTHER.
