2. WHAT IS CYBERBULLYING?
Cyberbullying is the use of cell phones, instant messaging, e-mail, chat rooms or social
networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to harass, threaten or intimidate
someone. Cyberbullying is often done by children, who have increasingly early access to
these technologies.
What you should do if you have been bullied:
• Don't respond. If someone bullies you, remember that your reaction is usually exactly what
the bully wants.
• Don't retaliate.
• Save the evidence.
• Talk to a trusted adult.
• Block the bully.
• Be civil.
• Don't be a bully.
• Be a friend, not a bystander.
3. WHAT IS ONLINE PIRACY?
Online piracy is the unauthorized uploading of a copyrighted recording and
making it available to the public, or downloading a recording from an
Internet site, even if the recording isn’t resold.
We’re making use of online piracy when we download movies or series or
when we watch certain streams.
In consequence of piracy, there is illegal downloading, but why is it illegal?
• Because we use the Internet to download and share intellectual property
such as movies, music, games or computer programs and that has created
a controversy between their creators and the consumer. Also some say that
it is unfair for the artists because they will get a lot less money than the
creator of the download.
4. COPYRIGHT
The only reason there’s online piracy and illegal downloading is because of
plagiarism and because we don’t respect copyrights.
Copyright is a set of exclusive rights granted to the author or creator of an
original work, including the right to copy, distribute and adapt the work.
When students use copyrighted material for ‘’commentary, parody, news
reporting and educational research’’, it is fair use.
5. PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and
passing them off as one's own.
PREVENTING PLAGIARISMWHEN WRITING
In a research paper, we have to come up with our own original ideas while at
the same time making reference to the work that's already been done by
others.
6. PHISHING
Phishing is the act of trying to inquire information such as passwords, user
names and bank details. It can be done when someone sends you an
email or SMS saying that it’s business, bank, or other financial institutions
or telecommunications providers, etc. In their emails or SMS they will say
something like: “there has been a mix up we will need your account details
so we can double check if it’s actually you”.
What can you do to prevent this fromhappening to you:
1: Determine if the nature of the correspondence is suspicious. The subject
content of the email, phone call, or text message will often help you
determine if the message is real.
2: Call the organization directly to verify the inquiry. This will allow you to
determine if the correspondence you received is real or a phishing scam.
3: Don't reply to the unsafe email or SMS especially if it personal
information.
