Objet : Assessment of Anup Bhattacharjee’s Internship
To whom it may concern
Madam/Sir,
The purpose of this letter is to assess the work performed by Anup Bhattacharjee during his 2-
month internship in my research group at Inria from June 1st to July 31th 2015.
Anup has been assigned several tasks during his internship, all relative to the development of
drivers and functionalities for wireless sensor network hardware platform. These tasks can be
summarized as follows :
Work on a TI MSP430 Micro-controller
• Study of MSP430 micro-controller programming, with practice on the Olimex
MSP430P1611 protoboard.
The study focused on learning the main registers involved in the programming of the
micro-controller. Anup developed some example programs to practice the control of
clock source, LEDs as well as the interrupt handling procedure
Work on WSN430 board (Wireless sensor node based on TI MSP430)
• Study of the architecture and schematics for WSN430, including the analysis of the
software already developed for the aforementioned board.
In this phase, ANup developped some example programs to practice communication
via I2C and UART and timers using drivers already defined in the available source
code.
• New drivers : Anup developed the modified version of the drivers related to I2C, UART,
TSL2550 and clock. The added functions include:
- automatic switch between I2C mode and UART mode for the USART
module of the micro-controller.
2. - a new function in the TSL2550 driver to compute a conversion in Lux of the
raw values captured by the sensor
- an active delay function in the clock module. It allow the use of wait functions
receiving a time value expressed in milliseconds.
Worf for Contiki OS porting
• Anup integrated the new driver with automated switch between I2C and UART in
Contiki integration of the drivers for temperature and light sensors in Contiki
To sum up, we are very satisfied of the work performed by Anup. All expected results have
been delivered on time, documented and with a high quality. Anup even went beyond the
tasks assigned to him by evaluating the ways to establish an experimental testbed in India
once back there, based on the expertise he gained and the different expected purposes.
