Verbal communication is the words and sounds that come out of our mouths when...LeandraLeiCaalita
Verbal communication is the words and sounds that come out of our mouths when we're speaking, including tone of voice and things like sighs and groans. In other words, whenever we use our words to express ourselves, our feelings, and our thoughts, we are verbally communicating. And yes, even when we are writing to someone, it is considered verbal communication.
Extra personal communication is communication between humans and non-human species, such as a lonely woman talking to her cats, or a dog wagging its tail when its owner returns home. Interpersonal communication is the exchange of information, feelings, and meaning between people through verbal and non-verbal messages. Intrapersonal communication is the internal communication process within an individual through thought and self-talk. Organizational communication considers the role of communication in organizations and can include inter-operational, external operational, and personal communication. Mass communication relays information to large audiences through mass media channels.
This document discusses different types of speech context: intrapersonal, interpersonal, and public communication. Intrapersonal communication involves communicating with oneself through internal dialogue, writing, or speaking aloud. Interpersonal communication occurs between two or more people through direct face-to-face or indirect virtual interaction. Public communication involves a speaker addressing a collective audience through a formal, prepared speech. The document provides examples and characteristics of each type of speech context.
1) The document is an assignment submission by Deepen P. Upadhyaya of section B for his 6th year Communication class to Mrs. Komal Shah on November 22, 2013.
2) It discusses the key concepts of communication including the definition, importance, types, elements, process, barriers and ways to make communication effective.
3) The assignment covers communication at different levels from interpersonal to mass communication and examines topics such as meaning of communication, functions, features, and the basic communication process of a sender encoding a message through a channel which the receiver decodes and provides feedback on.
This document discusses various topics related to communication, including definitions, types, and elements of communication.
Module II focuses on communication, defining it as the transmission of information, ideas, emotions, and skills through the use of symbols. It discusses the definition, meaning, concept, elements, process, functions and scope of communication. It also covers the different types and forms of communication, including verbal, nonverbal, intrapersonal, interpersonal, group, public, and mass communication. Barriers to communication are also mentioned.
There are four main types of communication: verbal communication which includes speech, written communication which involves written words, nonverbal communication which conveys messages without words through gestures and expressions, and visual communication which relies on visual aids like images, symbols, and design to get a message across. Each type of communication serves a different purpose and is used in various contexts depending on whether an individual, small group, or large audience needs to receive the information. Effective communication requires understanding and using different types of communication appropriately based on the situation.

Inter-personal communication occurs between two people through both verbal and non-verbal means. Group communication takes place between three or more individuals who see themselves as part of a group. Public communication is more formal and occurs when one person addresses an audience. Mass communication uses various media to deliver information to a large, diverse audience.
This document discusses communication, defining it as a two-way process of transmitting messages between people that influences behavior. It notes that communication has the purpose of transmitting messages through a shared code and exists as a tool for expressing ideas and feelings to achieve understanding. The document outlines the key aspects and elements of communication, including the verbal/linguistic aspect using words, and the nonverbal/extralinguistic aspect using cues like body language, proximity, time, touch, smell, and objects. It also discusses why communication is important, the different types of communication like intrapersonal, interpersonal, public, mass, and organizational, and the key elements needed for communication, including a sender, message, channel, receiver,
Communication is a complex skill that involves effectively conveying information from a sender to a receiver. It requires learning and practice to develop proficiency. The communication process consists of a sender encoding a message, which is sent through a channel and decoded by the receiver. Effective communication occurs when the receiver understands the message intended by the sender. Communication is important for collaboration in organizations, coordinating work, and making good decisions. It can be conveyed through verbal methods like speech, written language, and nonverbal cues like body language and tone of voice. Visual aids are also increasingly used to simplify complex ideas.

This document discusses four types of communication: intrapersonal (communication within oneself), interpersonal (between two people or small groups), public (presenting to a larger audience), and mass communication (through media). Intrapersonal involves self-thoughts and reflection. Interpersonal includes dyadic communication between two people or small group discussion. Public communication requires delivering a message to a larger audience using amplified voice, gestures, and potentially visual aids. Mass communication transmits information to broad audiences via television, radio, newspapers and the internet. The document provides examples of each type and instructs students to compare and discuss the differences in a graphic organizer.
Communication is the process of exchanging information between individuals through common symbols, signs, or behavior. It requires all parties to have some level of shared understanding. Communication can be verbal, involving the transmission of ideas using words, or nonverbal, using methods other than words like facial expressions and gestures. There are typically three parts to a communication - the sender who encodes the message, the message itself, and the recipient who decodes the message. Effective communication in nursing provides benefits like immediate understanding of a patient's condition, tracking changes in care, and advocating for patients.
This document discusses the key concepts of communication and ethical public speaking. It defines communication as the process of sending and receiving verbal and nonverbal messages to create shared meaning. There are five primary contexts of communication: intrapersonal, impersonal, interpersonal, small group, and public. Effective public speaking requires considering the situation, choosing a credible message, and anticipating feedback within the communication process while maintaining ethical standards like acknowledging bias and using respectful language.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. What is verbal communication?
Verbal communication is a type of
communication where we speak to
get our message and information
across to the other person. In
other words, whenever we use our
words to express ourselves, our
feelings, and our thoughts, we are
verbally communicating.
3. 1. Intrapersonal Communication
This form of communication is
extremely private and restricted to
ourselves. It includes the silent
conversations we have with ourselves,
wherein we juggle roles between the
sender and receiver who are
processing our thoughts and actions.
Types of verbal communications
4. This process of communication when analyzed can either
be conveyed verbally to someone or stay confined as
thoughts.
Example of Interpersonal Communication:
“They are made aware of a wide range of strategies used
in interpersonal communication to facilitate the
interpretation of messages and help negotiate meaning.”
5. 2. Intrapersonal Communication
This form of communication takes place between two
individuals and is thus a one-on-one conversation. Here, the
two individuals involved will swap their roles of sender and
receiver in order to communicate in a clearer manner.
Examples of Intrapersonal communications:
I just want a sandwich.
I can’t believe I forgot about the meeting.
I’m so stressed out.
6. 3. Small group communication
refers to communication among three or more
people who interact verbally and nonverbal,
perform certain informal roles with respect to one
another, feel a sense of belonging and
collaborate to achieve a desired goal.
Examples of Small Group Communications:
A science group discussing a project in a class.
A group of local farmers of an area
discussing better fertilizers.
7. 4. Public communication
refers to the act of dispersing a message
to a specific group through the use of
various tools or methods. Information
can come from the government, academic
courses, organizations, and political
parties, to mention just a few. Public
communication is crucial because it helps
bridge gaps between the sender and the
public. For example, the government uses
public communication to bridge the gap
between the citizens and the government.
8. Examples of Public Communications:
• My elocution was greatly improved after I finished
my public speaking course.
• I never would have asked him to give a speech if I
had known how inept he is at public speaking.
9. 5. Mass communications
Is the transmission of
information to large numbers of
people through the mass media.
Mass media includes newspapers,
magazines, television, radio, film,
websites, and any technology that
allows for the dissemination of
information to the public. Within
the mass media are channels or
vehicles of mass communication.
10. Some examples of Mass Communications:
Advertising
Corporate and institutional media
Public relations
Telecommunications (news or production)
Visual communications (graphic design, production
design, photography, video)
