2. Fact
Tunjungan Street was established since the era of Dutch Hindu government in 1930.
There are historical events occurred in Tunjungan Street, one of them was sezing the
netherland flag at majapahit hotel or formerly called "oranje" in 10 november 1945.
In this street, there are many ancient buildings relic of the Dutch Hindu government.
In the Past, Tunjungan Street was a famous area for its economic and shopping
center.

3. Problem
Now, Tunjungan Street looks like deserted area and it can be seen from the view of
less pedestrian and vehicles pass by and many shops that are closed.
The construction of the museum in siola doesn‛t have good impact in Tunjungan Street
as well and it can be seen with the lack of interest of visitors.
The goverment of Surabaya has been slow to react this problem and made Tunjungan
street less developed.

4. Its unfortunate that this Tunjungan street where there was a historical
event such as tearing flag in majapahit hotel and the main center of
economic trade in Surabaya is currently in poor condition.

6. Insight
Currently the people of Surabaya are very fond of traveling to new
places especially places like recreation & Culinary cafe.
The number of new places in Surabaya had made them leave the old
places.
Tunjungan Street which has been deserted for a long time makes
Surabaya people a bit hesitant to go there because they feel insecure.
The city of Surabaya is a city that has many heroes fighters during the
war in the past but many people still don‛t recognized them.

7. Challenge
Reviving the Tunjungan Street that has been long "dead"
and make this street become an iconic road in Surabaya
with the theme of the Heroes fighters.

The Kenroes (Awaken Heroes) of Tunjungan is a campaign in cooperation with the
Government of Surabaya and the Department of Tourism to change some layout on
Tunjungan Street.
This Tunjungan Street will be transformed into an "outdoor museum" of heroes
who have fought their lives for this country during the war as well as the places
to have some recreation.
The theme used of this campaign is Kenroes (awaken heroes) means a rising hero.

10. How It Works
1. We will make some parts of changes
in the layout of the Tunjungan Street
such as :
- The addition of Ambient Media, LED Bill-
board, and Statue of the heroes on the
sidewalk of Tunjungan street so that the
pedistrian can see.
- LED billboards are placed side by side with
the statues of the heroes and will show the
biography and a glimpse of their story war
for this country.
- The statue of heroes can glow at night.

11. - Kenroes will provide some spots on the
Tunjungan street for mural communities to
make some mural with the theme of the
heroes.
- Kenroes will work with an economic hero by
providing them unused place in Surabaya
street to make Small and Medium
Businesses.
- 2nd & 3rd floor inside the Siola building
will be transformed into a big stage. This
venue is used to showcase various
intercultural / art school competition such
as Theater Arts, Cultural Heritage Dance,
traditional music games and other
promotion of the culture of Surabaya.

12. 2. After finishing the major changes on
Tunjungan Street, the goverment will
officially launched the program and
The Kenroes Of Tunjungan will be
promoted on a large scale such as :
- Promotion through Banner ads in socialmedia,
e-commerce, and billboard in the street,
harbour, terminal, airport in the city of
Surabaya
- Kenroes will partnered with Gojek and Uber to
give a free trip for 1 month after the Kenroes
Of Tunjungan officially launch.
- Promotion is also done through radio channels
such as surabaya radio, Bahtera yuhda,
hardrock fm and others to invite local people
to come.
- To attract foreign / overseas visitors,
Kenroes cooperates with travel agents like
agoda and traveloka gives 20% discount when
staying in hotel in Surabaya for 1 month after
the campaign officially launch.

13. 3. To orderly make this street save for
visitors, there will be additional police officers
to work, additional parking space for visitors
and the addition of “Polisi Tidur” so that there
are no speeding vehicles when passing by.
4. Every Saturday night there will be Kenroes
Festival on the Tunjungan street and this will
make Tunjungan street will be closed for
vehicles. There will be
- Foodtruck & Bazar that sell various goods and
special Surabaya culinary .
- Screenplay at Majapahit Hotel that tells the
story of the historical torn flag.
5. Every 10th of November, Kenroes invites
people to gather in Tunjungan street to do
some activities such as removing lanterns to
commemorate the heroes and it is expected
that this tradition continue every year.

14. Result
Thousands of local, national and foreign
visitors will come to The Kenroes Of
Tunjungan.
Kenroes will become the hottest trending topic
in social media with a lot of photos and many
discussions about this program.
Kenroes provides a significant economic boost
in Surabaya and it will help a lot of small and
medium enterprises to increased their
business with this program.
People will know and recognized more about
the heroes who have fought their lives for this
country.
