So what exactly is Serengetee? Serengetee is a online shopping website and charity movement founded by Jeff Steitz, Ryan Westberg, and Nathan Holterman. Each pattern they sell are attached to a charity, and part of your purchase is donated to that charity.
Serengetee’s website is their home base for all sales and product information. The design is easy to navigate, where everything you could possibly want or need is in one place. At the bottom of the website, you’ll find where you can add your email to their list where you can get exclusive deals and offers. It also has links to their other social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest).
Judging by the chart, we can clearly see that Facebook is the leading social media platform for Serengetee, leading in over 400,000 followers. Following behind is Instagram, with over 135,000 followers. Lastly is Twitter with a little over 28,000 followers.
Serengetee’s Facebook page is used as a sort of “base of operations”. They mainly post promotional photos and videos to show off their featured products and get their followers excited about new products. On the sidebar of the Facebook page, there is a tab for shopping, where you can actually purchase some featured products right off Facebook, which is handy. And to make things even more convenient, they have linked their Instagram, Pinterest, and Email Updates pages to their Facebook page, which gives followers one place for everything they need. Also they are very active on Facebook messenger and they typically respond to messages within the same day or at most the following day.
Second in line for most followers is their Instagram page. Mainly used for posting dramatic, artsy pictures of models and customers showing off their products. They also post giveaways like the one pictured above, where they usually ask that in order to be entered you need to follow and tag someone, which is a genius way to gain double the followers (the tagged friend will see it and gain interest). they are very active and post every day, sometimes multiple times per day.
Least popular and least active is the twitter page. This is where their famous hashtag, #WearTheWorld, was created. They use this hashtag to gain interest in Twitter and to spread their company around the Twitter universe. Not only do they tweet their own tweets, but they also frequently like and retweet tweets from their followers that use the hashtag or mention. This gets followers excited and happy with the company, which in turn encourages them to buy more products. In the event of a customer complaint, they use twitter to reach out to the dissatisfied customer personally to help fix their issue.
Pinterest is the least followed Serengetee social media. The added benefit, however, of having a Pinterest is that each picture they post is linked to the exact place on the website where it is found. Having a Pinterest is also important in marketing because by having several different social media accounts, your brand looks popular, and therefore more people will want to check it out. Similar to Instagram because most posts are pictures of products or models modeling products.
Another way Serengetee uses the internet in marketing is by collecting emails. At their main website, there is a place where you can put your email down and they will email you discounts and news about the company and about giveaways. In fact, whenever you first go to the website, there is a pop up that asks if you want to put your email down for a chance to win a $500 shopping spree and a winner is announced every 2 weeks. This method is quicker than social media because you learn about discounts and offers before it’s even posted on social media.
Serengetee offers this program to high school and college students every semester. The benefits of being a rep include you getting exclusive access to special offers and discounts, chances to win free gear and prizes, a personalized rep pack, and more. The benefits of having student reps is that you are spreading the word about your company to your target audience by your target audience. Serengetee Reps are passionate about the company and advertise constantly on social media, which really spreads the word, thus generating mass interest in the company. (if you couldn’t already tell by this presentation, I am a student rep for the 2018 spring semester)
If you would like to be a Serengetee Rep for Summer of 2018, all you have to do is fill out a simple application off of the Serengetee website. They offer this to both high school and college students. If you are accepted, you’ll instantly receive benefits including your own personal discount code that gets you 30% anything on the site. Soon after, you’ll receive a code that you can give to family and friends that gives them 20% off their entire purchase. This not only generates more buzz for the company, but it also gets the reps excited about using their code and sharing their code. The more people who use your code, the more times you are entered in a contest where you could win a free trip to Guatamala.
