1. What training could you as a manager put into place to avoid this situation? Hospitals
officials said computer systems have been updated to block complete social security numbers
and that staff is being trained on privacy and security. Everyone who works with you, including
self-employed people, needs to know how to work safely and without risks to health. Like your
supervisor, they need to know about your health and safety policy, your arrangement for
implementing it, and the part they play (Health & Safety Exec, 2012). Conducting quality
assessment and improvement activities, train future health care professionals, fundraising
conducted by a provider or its fundraising arm for its own benefit, providing the patient is given
an opportunity to opt out, and population-based activities related to improving health or to
reducing health care costs, protocol development, case management and care coordination
(Legacy Health, 2010). I would also teach my employees to shred material that requires
shredding. Teach my employees to understand the importance of protecting passwords and speak
privately with people that are only about issues that concern them (Hiler, 2011)
How can this training on confidentiality be effective for the employees? It helps each
employee to understand the basic concepts of the HIPAA privacy rules, the purpose of the notice
of privacy practices. Employees have the knowledge for the basic concepts of HIPAA security
rules and how to report a HIPAA concern (Legacy Health, 2010). This training can avoid some
severe results if a confidentiality issue has been disregard such as employees from employment.
Clients or customers may be embarrassed, experience financial losses, and bring criminal cases
against the company as well as the individual employee (Hiler, 2011). You keep your clientele
because they know you value their privacy. It also saves the company from lawsuits because you
are not violating any law.
