Training is essential for all employees at a healthcare organization to ensure confidentiality of patient records. At UCLA Hospital, some staff accessed celebrity medical records without authorization, breaching patient privacy. To prevent recurrence, the manager would implement training on HIPAA laws, ethics of patient confidentiality, disciplinary actions for privacy breaches, and security measures to restrict unauthorized access to patient information and records. This training aims to remind employees of legal and professional obligations to maintain privacy of patient health data.

1. Training is essential to all employees, whether it is senior, middle, or lower level employees. The healthcare
organization handles private, personal, and confidential records of all patients on a daily basis. As such training in
the confidentiality of all patients records is vital to the good standing of the healthcare organization. There have
been breach in confidentiality of patients personal records at the UCLA Hospital where staff members peeked into
celebrities medical records for personal information.

2. In order to prevent this situation from recurring at the UCLA Hospital, as a manager I would put in effect the
following training procedures:
Employee compliance program with all HIPAA laws and regulations
Legal implications training on breach of patients confidentiality and personal records
Training on ethics and laws regarding confidentiality of patients personal records
Training regarding disciplinary measures, mistrust and lawsuit and its implications on breach of patients privacy
General management safeguards and security tips
Unauthorized access of patients personal and private records and information

3. This training on confidentiality can be effect for the employees as this will allow employees to follow protocol;
adhere to all regulations, policies, practices and procedures in the workplace regarding patients privacy and the
confidentiality of patients personal records and information. This training will remind the employees of legal
implications and consequences of patients personal privacy and or personal information and records are breached in
any way or form by unauthorized users.
HIPAA has allowed the privacy and confidentiality along with security and safeguarding of patients information.
Indeed; healthcare professionals are able to access patients personal information due to technology, as such
computers should be password protected; passwords should be very unique in order to avoid unauthorized access to
patients personal information and personal records.
