ACT 1994
The Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 aims to secure
the safety, health and welfare of persons at work, for
protecting others against risks to safety or health in
connection with the activities of persons at work.
Under the Act employers, employees and self-employed
person are required to meet certain standard on safety, health
and welfare.

During the terms of their
employment in factory,
workers will be provided
with sitting facilities which
not cause them harm while
working

construction and dimensions
suitable for their work,
together with a foot-rest is
necessary to support his feet
in order to reduce fatigue;
and
12. Basic Requirements
Seating should:
a) support a worker in a position in which worker can work
comfortably and efficiently;
b) allow a worker to change position easily & without losing
support;
c) not press uncomfortably on the buttocks or thighs;
d) cater for any special needs where special seating may be
required - very tall or short, big or small framed, or disabled
workers
e) suit the workstation, including the height of the work surface
and the layout of furniture and equipment.
