3. Play off ideas
• Kilbride, an Irish and Scottish name with a village in Ireland called ‘Kilbride'. With also a Kilbride area found in Scotland.
• The surname was first found in Arran, an island in North Ayrshire.
• The name means ‘son of the servant of (Saint) Brigit/Brigid/Brighid’. Founder of the first Irish convent.
• Was originally a pagan fire Goddess of the Flame and of the Well. Inspiration and creativity. The earthly form. Goddess
of childbirth, healing, writing, arts and crafts. Commonly celebrated as the Wiccan Goddess being associated with
Smithcraft and a fire cult. (Irish mythology)
• The name Brigit means ‘exalted’. Exalted refers to a high or powerful level.
• In Pythagorean numerology, Kilbride would be the value number seven. Whilst in chaldean numerology the number is 2.
• Take a quote from a movie? (Like 'Bigger Boat' productions taken from 'Jaws'.)
• Could us a mnemonic to break down the logo.
4. Logo 1: The first idea I had was to take the outline of
Kilbride located in Ireland as that seemed
simpler than going with Scotland, use that
design as the logo with the title placed over
it in a curve. Kinda like a rainbow going over
the village.
The colour of the logo would consist of
green, white and orange referencing the flag
of Ireland.
If a colour was to surround the outline that
would have to be blue, like the water
surrounding an island.
As for the title, I would go with red for every
letter as I can imagine that would stand out
best.
Focusing on the text, being all
the same font, the title would
be 3D blocks stretching over the
location with each letter
rotating slowly.
5. Logo 2 & 3:
Based on the meaning
behind the name 'Kilbride',
the idea of relating the
logo to slavery came to
mind.
There was a debate
on whether to use a plate
or bowl, so I decided to
try both in different
angles.
With the first, I am not too sure on how the
title could lay out. The main idea that comes
to mind is to have the words curve slightly
aligning with the top of the bowl.
Colours would be modern, darkish with
shading. Hands peachy, bowl gold with the
background either a crimson red or a midnight
blue.
Text would be san serif creating an old
fashioned-type style. Gold letters maybe or
possibly grey, depends on the outcome and
colours used.
As for the second draft, the logo is
more of a POV design holding a plate.
Rope and markings had been placed to
add emphasis onto the slavery part.
Colours and text style, same again
really. Just instead of the title bending
with the object, it would reveal as if
the text was being served on the plate.
6. Logo 4:
Going more simple, a sun has been used as the icon
referencing Brighid the Goddess of flame and the
earthly form.
Going for the usual colours, orange and yellow for the
sun, with those colours a smile could be placed inspired
by the marketing scheme Pepsi and many others have
used.
Maybe eyes as well to make the face more obvious like a
Pringles logo, but the image might come off too similar
so could be seen as stealing.
Then with the background, if there is to be one, that
would be a dark blue possibly with the addition of stars.
That is mainly why I would prefer the red for the title just
again that’s if it doesn’t blend in with the sun.
As for the text, that would be placed near to
the middle of the icon but more to the right.
Drawn out bubbly, there
would also be a curve in
the text as if there was
wind adding more to the
design.
The colour of the text would most likely be
a darkish blue with thickish black
outlining helping it stand out. Either blue
or red if that would work and now collide
too much with the colours chosen for the
sun.
7. Logo 5:
Only drawn to give a brief idea, again this one was inspired by the Goddess,
Bridgid. Having a character either float or kneeling, she would be seen in
front of the sun with the title above showing her creating the text.
The text would be created to look as if it were also flame, but with only a
black outline so it could stand out it some way.
Black outlines would also be placed around the sun and character, again
helping all the visuals stand out.
Using the regular sun colours, somewhat accurate colours would go into the
Goddess' design which is green and orange/red with the peachy skin colour.
Plenty of shading would also go into this giving it more detail.
Finally with the background, that would either be black or a light blue giving
more of an earthly day time vibe.
8. Final drafts
Exploring title fonts to get an idea on my options.
Using two that didn’t have room for the titles to be
added, a brief sketch had been put together with
the titles being figured out.
