2. Down to Earth’s Big goal
Our team’s big goal is to make people feel better about who they are, or who they
want to be. It is our job to let everyone know they are not alone and connect them
to others who are just like them. Down to Earth focuses on LGBTQ+ youth who
need support.
3. What does LGBTQ+ stand for?
LGBTQ+ stands for lesbian, gay, biexual, transgender, queer,questioning,
pansexual, bicurious, poly sexual, monosexual, androsexual, gnosexual, asexual
demisexual, grey asexual, perioriented, varioriented, heteronormative, frasure,
erasure, cishet, polygamous, mono amorphous, queer, and intersex.
LGBTQ+ can be said multiple ways. For example, you can say it like LGBT,
LGBT+, LGBTI, LGBTQ+, AND LGBTQIA.
8. Why we are passionate about this topic
We all feel passionate about this topic because some of us have friends and/or
relatives that are part of the LGBTQ+ community. We know their struggles and we
want to help all of the LGBTQ+ community.
9. The steps to our goal
1. Creating our website.
2. Find a non profit organization.
3. Making our way into high schools.
4. How we will help: We will help by using our website to provide therapy to LGBTQ+
students in high school.
5. Spread our website throughout high schools in our home states.
6. Spread our website throughout the nation: Our website will spread throughout
communication with school boards throughout the nation.
7. Our goal is for our website to become worldwide through cultural diffusion.
11. The next steps
After we have accomplish steps 1 through 7, we will move on to colleges.
Finally, we will evolve from just LGBTQ+ to human rights in general including
things like racial profiling and immigrant rights.
12. Our Non-profit Organizations
Some non-profit organizations that help the LGBTQ+ community
include:
1. The Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Center has cared, defended, and
celebrated LGBTQ+ individuals and families.
2. Pflag (Parents, family, and friends of Lesbians and Gays)
promotes the wellbeing of lesbian and gay people, their
families and friends through education and advocacy.
3. The GLBT National Help Center which is devoted to meeting
the needs of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender people,
and those questioning their sexual orientation and gender
identity.
4. The “It Gets Better Project,” is dedicated to empowering and
connecting LGBTQ+ youth around the world.
