2. Statistics
● Over 3.2 million students are bullied each year, and 160,000 students stay
home because of it.
● 60% of boys that are bullied younger in life tend to get into trouble with the
police as they get older.
● 86% of students that are bullied turn to violence which results in school
shootings.
● 4,400 people have died because of bullying.
● 77% of bullies have been bullied themselves.

3. Types of Bullying
PHYSICAL: when one group or person confront someone face to face and physically
attack the victim. Examples include hitting, kicking, and damaging property.
VERBAL: using negative words to put someone down to their face. This can take the
for more insults, name calling, or even verbal abuse.
SOCIAL: when the bully attempts to ruin a relationship or friendship. Examples can
be rumors, mimicking, and leaving leaving someone out on purpose
CYBER: bullying a victim using modern technology and the internet. Forms of this
can be hurtful texts or emails or social media gossip

4. The Reason Why People Bully
● The bully thinks it will make them more popular or liked.
● The victim excels at something the bully struggles in.
● They may have problems at home.
● They could be jealous.

5. Outcomes from Bullying
● Declining grades
● More anxiety
● Less desire to be around friends and social life
● Depression, Suicide
● Makes victims feel insecure at themselves
● Police could get involved
● Feels discomfort
6. How parents can help their child!
● Talk to the child’s school counselor to let them know that this is happening to their child
● Have teachers and staff look out for the bullying of their child
● Ask the teachers to let you know frequently how they are in their classroom
● Ask their child how their day was and if it was bad, try to make the rest of the day fun
● Parents could also be home or around for more time to talk to their child
7. In Schools
While doing research we found some shocking facts about bullying in
China:
● administration tends to wave away parent complaints (on bullying)
as a children’s prank
● it is typically not taken seriously
● depending on the school and its rules, sometimes bullying is worse
● another cause is the ethnic background of a student
10. Non Profit Organizations
● In New York, Long Island helps victims of bullying: The Long Island Coalition
Against Bullying provides a free program that teaches young kids leadership
skills
● This program is also an access provided by private donations and fundraising
and those who feel discomfort about their presence
