 An individual who buys product or service for personal
use ,who make the decision whether or not to purchase
an item at the store.
 Consumer is someone who can be influenced by
marketing and advertisements
 Any time someone goes to a store and purchases a
toy,shirt,beverage or anything else, they are making
decisions as a consumer.
 Teenagers are important consumers in todays market
that know well that what to choose and to buy.
 "Teenagers have now become the
gatekeepers to modern trends.
With the internet and social
media, teenagers have more
access to that information than
ever before."
 On march 15- 1962,US president John F Kinnedy
put forth the “ CONSUMER BILL OF RIGHTS’’ to
help consumers understand their rights and
responsibilities.
 In 1885, six consumer rights were adopted by united
nation Assembly, which resulted in consumers having
stronger consumer protection , policies worldwide.
 March 15 is now declared as World Consumer Rights
Day.

2. The right to safety
3. The right to be informed
4. The right to be heard
5. Right to consumer education
6. Right to a healthy environment
 The consumer has the right to choose from variety
and various products at competitive prices with an
assurance of satisfactory
 According to this right the consumer has the right to
get information about the quality, quantity, purity,
standard and price of goods or service so as to protect
himself against the abusive and unfair practices uality
When we buy a sweater , we
are not stick to one
company but its the shop
keepers duty to tell us the
products of all the
producers and we watch all
of them like oxford,
bonanza etc and then make
our own choice.
EXAMPLE
 The consumer should be protected against the
marketing of goods or the provision of services that are
hazardous to health and life.
 EXAMPLE:
 While buying cosmetics , soaps , shampoos , its the
right of consumer to ask about information from
shopkeeper like soaps according to skin type, a
foundation suitable for complexion or not.
 The consumer should be protected against dishonest
or misleading..advertising or labeling and has the right
to be the fact and information needed to make an
informed choice.It is the right to be given true facts
and information about products so we can make wise
choice.
 EXAMPLE: its our right to be informed by the
salesman that wheather this cloth is of good quality or
not or can we wear it as many times as we want even
after washing it several times.
 Right to express consumer interests in making of
government polices.
 Sometimes the companies who are at their high
status,comitt mistakes like manufacturing
soaps,shampoos.We must have to inform them about
their negative points towards their product
 Right to consumer education is the right to acquire
knowlegde and skills necessary to be an informed
consumer.
 EXAMPLE: consumer education will help us to know
and develop critical thinking and decision making
ability
 The right to live and work in an environment which is
neither threatening nor dangerous and which permits
a life of dignity and wellbeing
 EXAMPLE: It means the right to a physical
environment that will enhance the quality of life
