2. My biggest accomplishment during my Level 2 clinical experience was to
be able to manage the class while I was doing my instruction. My class
has 28 students in it! I was worried that they wouldn’t pay attention or
listen to me when I was teaching. It did take time but by the end of
these 8 weeks my students did very well listening to me during my
instruction and Mrs. Baisden didn’t have to get involved. I was so proud
of them and I started to see how to implement some classroom
management in the future.
3. My biggest surprise was leading the class in their song during the
Veteran’s Day Program for the school! While practicing in class Mrs.
Baisden would let me lead the students with her help then we presented
it as a whole class. It really made me feel like part of the class and was
really good practice for when I am a teacher! I was really thankful to
Mrs. Baisden for letting me have that opportunity!!
4. My biggest challenge during my Level 2 experience was to decide which
lessons to teach. I wanted to do lessons that would not only teach the
students but to also have them doing hands-on with group activities, and
having fun while learning. The lessons that I developed the students had
fun, were engaged, stayed interested, and most importantly learned
from the activity. I really want to make lessons that students will
remember and make an impact on them. I was really pleased with the
students and their work.
5. During my student teaching next semester what I will try to do
differently is to do more learning games with the students that will help
them learn the material. My students loved to do these types of games
and it kept them interested in what we were learning.
6. There was many things that I learned from Mrs. Baisden! Two things that
I learned that I will definitely take with me into my own classroom is
Mrs. Baisden gives her students Fun Friday Treats. This makes the
students want to be good through the week so they don’t lose this treat
so it helps in classroom management. I think that students need these
few minutes in class at the end of the week to unwind. These treats
could be learning based also. The other one is every student has their
own dry erase board and marker to practice certain activities. I think
that students will like to practice more on the dry erase board instead of
paper and it will help to keep the students involved in the activity. The
students really love to use their white boards during lessons!!
7. I have really enjoyed my past eight weeks teaching in Mrs. Baisden’s
class! It has been a wonderful learning experience for me. I am going to
miss the students and I hope they have a great rest of the year!!
