2. Initial Reaction
I think I could do a simple but fun idea such as a
limitless runner or a car game. I think that for my
last project (music video) I tried to do an idea that
was too complicated and I didn’t manage to get it
filmed. I changed my idea to one much more simple
and it actually was better than my first idea so I
think I will try to make my game simple but
entertaining, similar to a game like Jetpack Joyride.
I am probably going to do a car game since two of
the experiments I did were car games and I
animated both reasonably well considering I
haven’t done animating in a while.
3. Mind Map
Ideas
A top-down racing game
where you are racing
against other cars in
interesting locations such
as in the streets and on
race tracks
A limitless
runner game
where you are
driving a car and
need to avoid
items in the
road
A car game where you are
being chased by the
police or you are the
police and are chasing
people
A driving game where you are
driving round in a car and need to do
something before the time expires;
similar to crazy taxi or side missions
in GTA games
Pizza delivery Ambulance
Delivery driver for
different
companies with a
time limit
There would need
to be things getting
in your way such as
bad guys
Getaway driver
needing to drive
people away from
the police to a
location in a time
limit. Could do this
in missions?
A game like the movie
‘speed’ where you are
driving a car with a bomb in
it and you need to keep the
car at a certain speed and
not hit anything or else it
will explode. You start off
with a time limit but as you
keep driving collecting coins
and doing stunts will give
you more time.
Companies ask for
favours and you do
as many as possible
before the time
expires
4. Mind Map
Original
final idea
A car game where you are a Getaway
Driver for people such as bank robbers
and you need to drive them to a certain
destination. There would be police trying
to hit you and you would need to try and
escape from them. The longer you take,
the more police will appear and the more
crimes you commit whilst driving, the
higher your wanted level will go up.
There could be a story element to
the game such as the police
blackmailing you to deliver them
the criminals. The cutscenes
could be in a similar style to
‘Papers Please’
You could be given jobs by
locals and local criminals
like in the first Grand
Theft Auto game.
The player receives a text message
before every mission showing who
needs to get picked up and where
they need to get picked up at and
why.
There could be racing missions where
you need to race enemies.
Driver around city
Talking to the customers and seeing
their stories as you drive. There are
criminals and recurring customers
such as cops looking for someone
who will pay you to give information.
These were my original ideas
for my game but I changed my
mind since I thought that
missions would get repetitive
fast.
5. Final Final
idea
Genre: Endless runner
game
Idea: You are driving a car that
will explode if you hit anything.
You are driving around and
there are things that are getting
in your way.
Setting: I think I will have the
starting setting as a city but as
you get further in the game the
location will keep changing so
eventually you will reach the
countryside, then the beach and
then maybe different countries.
You would have the option to buy
new cars that are faster
Text showing
how many miles
you travelled
Speedometer
showing how fast
you are driving.
The speed will
increase the
further you get in
the game
Texts I need
Things getting in the way:
Cars
People
Trees
7. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images
styles/fonts/tone/mood
There are a lot of bright colours repeated in the images I have collected. This helps the games
look nicer visually and helps keep the players attention.
A feature that was repeated in the images I have collected is that the games often show your
stats on the screen, such as how fast you are going, what position you are in the race, what
lap you are on or how many deliveries you have done.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence my final product as it will show me different styles that I could
use for my game, such as what view my game will be e.g a view from above the character or
behind the character. My mood board may also influence the colour scheme for my game
since some of the images in my mood board feature an interesting colour scheme with
bright colours such as the game from the gif I used. The colour scheme for that gif helps give
a kind of 80s look to the game.
