1. Jürgen Schadeberg is a South African portrait photographer. He is known for
photographing Nelson Mandela from the year 1952 onwards. Nelson Mandela is one of
the most inspirational people in black history and is known for fighting for the rights of
equality for black people in South Africa. Unfortunately due to him fighting against an
apartheid government he was jailed for 27 years and this picture captures the innocence
of a man locked away for fighting for a Nobel cause. These pictures are in black and
white giving it that bleak/depressing feel to the picture and these pictures are all in focus
capturing every detail from Mandela Cell to Mandela himself.

Children fleeing from the Vietnam War. This picture caused a lot of controversy
as viewers at home was seeing the horror of the Vietnam War causing Nick Ut to
win the 1973 Pulitzer Prize for his terror war photography. The picture is in black

11. In this image we can see a field of lavender and an isolated tree in the
background. The lines of direction of the lavender field leads our eyes towards
the isolated tree and the use of contrasting colours within the picture makes the
picture in general a beautiful picture.
4. Katerina Plotnikova is a surreal photographer from Russia that creates visual fairy-
tales, both sensual and inspiring. Katerina likes to use powerful animals and delicate
models, juxtaposed together, to create her eccentric artwork. This picture by Katerina
is taken with a shallow depth of field as this attractive girl is in focus and the
background is blurred. The picture is daunting as this girl has flowers on her head
besides having a snake on her head, which makes this image quite controversial.
Furthermore, you can see the juxtaposition between the beauty (girl) and the beast
(snake). Another picture that was made with a similar ideology is a picture of another
attractive girl that seems to be intimate with this bear.
