Ian Allen - Portrait
In this photo shoot of Patrick Peterson by photographer Ian Allen, Its as
if he is being god lit and this is used to show his power and to show he’s
important and his effect on people, the effect of the black background
makes all the focus come to him because of his bright colors and the
way he is looking up with his arms out show that he is relieved about
something and standing out to everyonelike hey look at me. The light
looks like coming from the frontof him and making him look bright. I like
the way it is positioned and I also like the lighting and the way the model
is posing. This type of photographer interests me and fits the ideas of
what I wantto do. The purposeof this photo is to show he is important
and he is well known and that’s it almost time for football and it is to
inspire people and motivate and that is why he is looking up with his
arms straightout. The image is positioned so the model is only in the
middle, and is lined up between the lines in the middle; this is so he is
the center of focus.
Ed Thompson - Landscape
This images purposeisfor peoplewho are Interested in landscape
and weird colors. It may be shown in a landscapeart intervention. It
is positioned so the church is the center of attention and the thing
everyonefocuseson. The color in the image is used for the effect to
stand out and show it’s nota normalplace and it’s not ordinary. The
photographs weremadefrom a place in Pluckley, Kent. Pluckley is
recorded in the Domesday Book and is over 1000 yearsold. It'ssaid
to be the most haunted village in the U.K. Pluckley is host to a
number of apparitionsaccording to local myth with tales of a
phantom horse and coach passing through the town, a Generalthat
roamsthrough woodsthat no longer exist, a gypsy woman who set
herself ablaze and variousred ladies & white ladies who appear in St
Nicholas's Churchyard. Somebelieve that ghosts could be revealed
with the use of infrared photography. Under normalconditionswe
see a visible wavelength of light between 400-700 nanometersand
that's the range of light most cameras record. Infrared film with the
correct filtration can reveal light between 750-1000 nanometers.
Neil Leifer – Portrait
In this image taken by Neil Leifer, it shows the purposeof the image
is to makepeoplewho are interested in basketball feel sad and
motivated at the same time because this image was for when Kobe
Bryant(the model)announced hisretirementand this image was
used for peopleto motivated to be like him. The image is positioned
so the ball and his head meet the middleof the image. The use of
black and white gives the effect of a meaningfulimage because if it
had bright colors it would makeit look happy and give the wrong
impression since it is a sad announcement. Theway the ball is
touching his head is giving the impression that the game of basketball
has touched his mind or he’s telling us that his mind is basketball and
that’s all he knows. The light lookslike it’s coming from the frontbut
elevated high as you can see the reflection on the ball. Asthe ball
goes dark underneathand his chin is shadowed, this showsthe light
is coming from the fronttop. Another purposefor the image is to
announcehis retirement. Which he announced in an article along
with the image.
Ed Thompson – Landscape
This is another image of the haunted place in Kent. The image makes it
lookinviting with the colour but its actually one of the most haunted
places in the UK. The positioning is so the white post is in the middle
and the flowers are at the bottom. It gives the effect that its like death.
The meaning of the photograph is to show how beautiful places can be,
even if it’s a haunted place that no one likes to visit. It makes it look
inviting through the image. If you crop the image to just the middle
right, it looks like a completely different image and this has an effect on
people who see different perspectives.
Don Mcullin - War
This image was taken to show the real truth behind war and to show
the publicwhat wasreally like. This helped stop the war because of
all the publicity it got for being a bad war from these images. The
image is positioned to show the man who looksscared in the middle
of the image and to show his emotionsand feelings fully. The lighting
in the images don’tlook very nice as the background looksuninviting
and the colour is black and white because of the times it was taken
but it also makes a sad effect. It looks as if he is tightly grippinghis
gun because he is scared. The duston his helmet and the dirt on his
handsshow that the conditionsaren’t healthy and the way he is
crunched up as if he is cold show the clothes he’s wearingaren’t very
warm for these conditions. He is notlooking at the camera and this
suggests he is looking at something moreimportantor scary. The
purposeof the image was to help show the publicthe truth to stop
the war and bring peopleback.
Don Mcullin - War
This is an image of a man throwing a grenadeand it looks frightening
and to see what’s going on in front of him isn’t nice and this would
make the audiencefeel sorry and wantto stop the war and this
worked. The colour is also for the time period but it also creates an
effect. The meaningof this photo is to show how peoplehad to deal
with stuff in the war and what all the soldiers wentthrough and how
they handled themselves. The image is positioned so the man is right
in the middlead it’s taken as if the image was rushed because he had
a certain time limit to take the image. The sticks at the side of the
image look like they are framingthe man and the movementon the
grenadeshows the focuscouldn’tkeep up with it. Its an in action
image and it looks as if the man is posing but really its just the reality
of war. It remindsyou of the Olympicsas it looks like he’s throwing a
javelin. The sticks in frontof the man make it seem as If it’s creating a
background framebetween the tree and the stick.
