4.1 WORK AS: Started as apprentice and later as machinist

4.3 WORK AS: Buyer then Senior Buyer now Sourcing Manager and
Procurement Engineering
Responsibilities: Technical Buyer for the Procurement of sheet metal
parts with variety of stamping plants. Negotiate price adjustment
annually and to improve efficiency to acceptable cost levels. Cost
analysis.
Later entered the Technical development department where my
responsibility covered procurement activities. K. Liske changed the
department giving us the task as Procurement Engineers that
encompassed the task of purchasing which entailed negotiations with
suppliers for annual price adjustment. Export of parts from South
Africa to Europe within the MIDP framework. Following the POZ
“process optimisation of purchase parts to improve cost effectiveness.
Liaison with top-level management with regards to all aspects of
production and other relevant matter. Supplied parts quality also our
task such as QSK “Quality purchased parts”, function. Ensuring plant
and supply quality of all purchased parts conducting process and product
audits. Issuing initial sample inspection reports, test reports, and
establishing PPM targets. With a strong support to the Logistics
department for local and export of components.
Systems support to my fellow colleagues included GPS global purchasing,
SAP for requisitions and various other documents. Various Microsoft
programs such as MS-Project; MS-Word; X-cell etc.
Product knowledge cover mechanical, sheet metal and electrical more
specifically over the last few years more extensively involved as Module
leader for module 20 (Air-conditioning) air-conditioning hoses and pipe
for the company Eaton/Aeroquip of which we export in excess of
800000 parts annually to Germany. Batteries since the introduction of
calcium-calcium technology with the company Sabat. Deta-Douglas an
American based company for our American export program.

Industrialisation of various project with companies like First National
Batteries
Change to Quality management 2010 responsible for interior trim
parts. Developing suppliers for our new model. Liaising with colleagues
in the factory and at the supplier with continues improvement to strive
towards zero defects. Audit suppliers to conform to strict acceptable
standards as agreed by the industry. Regular liaison with international
partner.
My relationship with my German colleagues has truly been of great help
since I speak German and had the opportunity to visit BMW AG and
various overseas suppliers over the last few years.
From time to time I’ve also been able to assist my colleagues in other
department with the amount of experience and knowledge gained over
the years.
We also conduct audits; re-qualification annually, supplier selection
survey, Q-offer before launch, Supplier interface agreements,
Maturity level agreements with design engineer in Germany and
suppliers. Quality systems familiar with ISO9001; TS16949;
ISO14001
This is but a brief overview of my responsibilities.
5. OTHER ACTIVITIES AND INTERESTS
For a number of years involved with community support to uplift the
lives of underprivileged families.
Started Long distance runner about 7 years ago joined as member of
the BMW road running club where I served on their management.
Currently my studies take priority.
