3. Section from the liver showing:
• The hepatocytes are distended by
CYTOPLASMIC vacuoles which were
occupied by fat that had dissolved in
xylol and alcohol during the
preparation of the paraffin section.
• The NUCLEI of some hepatocytes
are flattened and pushed by the
vacuole (accumulated fat) to one
side against the cell membrane
giving the cell a signet ring
appearance.
Diagnosis
Fatty Degeneration (Steatosis),
liver

4. Section from the spleen showing:
• Hyaline degeneration (hyalinosis)
of the central arterioles of
lymphoid follicles.
• The arteriolar wall is thickened
and their lumen is narrowed.
• The splenic capsule & trabeculae
also show hyalinosis (thickened,
structureless, homogenous pink).
Diagnosis:
Hyaline Degeneration, Spleen.

7. Gross description.
Specimen: Slice of liver
Gross Pathology:
1. Cut surface of the liver slice
shows diffuse yellow coloration.
2. The borders are rounded
indicating soft consistency.
Diagnosis.
Liver Steatosis (Fatty Change)

8. Describe.
Specimen: Heart with open chambers.
Gross pathology:
1. The MYOCARDIUM is yellow in color. The
Columnae carneae show brown dots
alternating with yellow ones (Tabby cat
appearance).
2. The LEFT VENTRICLE shows hypertrophy
and dilatation.
3. The AORTA and mitral valve shows yellow
atherosclerotic patches.
diagnosis ?
1- Fatty Change Of The Heart (Tabby Cat).
2.Hypertrophy And Dilatation Of Left
Ventricle.
3. Atherosclerosis Of Aorta And Mitral valve

9. Describe.
Specimen: Heart with open left side.
Gross Pathology:
1. HEART is reduced in size (compare to
the size of the aorta) with tortuous
Coronaries (seen at the outer surface).
2. The myocardium is dark brown.
3. PERICARDIAL FAT is replaced by
edematous tissue.
4. AORTA shows yellow atherosclerotic
patches.
Diagnosis.
- Brown Atrophy Of The Heart
- Serous Atrophy Of Pericardial Fat
- Aortic Atherosclerosis.

11. Describe:
Specimen: Sectioned tumor mass.
Gross Pathology:
The Mass is rounded capsulated well
defined greyish white in color. It shows
granular chalky white foci of
calcification.
Diagnosis:
Subcutaneous Fibroma With Dystrophic
Calcification.
