Polish radio and television presenter,
entertainer, charitable and social
activist.
3. Gdańsk is a city in northern Poland in Pomeranian region.
It is located on the Baltic Sea at the Moltawa estuary to
the Vistula river in the Gulf of Gdańsk.
Gdańsk is the center of cultural, scientific, economic and
transportation hub of northern Polish. It is the maritime
center with a large trading port. Gdańsk together with
Gdynia and Sopot are called the Tri-City (Trójmiasto).
Gdańsk is the capital of the Pomeranian province.
4. When Jerzy Owsiak was eight years old he moved together with
his parents from Gdansk to Warsaw, where he graduated from
high school of economics and finance.
He applied to get to the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and
attempted to study philosophy, rehabilitation, and social
studies. Alas, to no avail.
He organized first Woodstock Festival Poland in 1995 in
Czymanowo city. From this moment onward the Festival is
organized annually and subsequent editions were organized in
Szczecin (1996), Żary (1997–1999, 2001–2003), Lębork (2000)
and Kostrzyn nad Odrą (from 2004).
5. GREAT ORCHESTRA
OF CHRISTMAS CHARITY
Primarily Jerzy Owsiak is known as one of the founders and Chairman of the
Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity one of the most popular charity
organizations in Poland.
The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity foundation is organization which
objective is to support public healthcare in Poland.
The GOCC foundation's work is focused on supporting children's medicine and
improving the level of care offered to senior patients in geriatric and long-
term care units.

7. The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity foundation has been officially
registered in Warsaw in March 1993.
Each year Jerzy Owsiak is managing organization of GOCC and host of
GOCC television show.
The first Grand Finale fundraiser has been held in January 1993 - at first
it was meant to be an one-off happening to raise money for cardiac
surgery ward at the Children's Memorial Hospital in Warsaw.
The spectacular success of the first effort, which enabled the foundation
to divide the money between all cardiology units treating children in
Poland, inspired the establishment of the GOCC.
8. Since 1st of September 2004 foundation is a Polish a public benefit
organization, so under Polish fiscal law each tax payer can donate
1% of their tax to a charity or cause of their choice.
The money raised by GOCC at the
annual fundraiser is used to purchase
medical equipment for public
hospitals in Poland and to finance
medical and educational
programmes.
9. JERZY OWSIAK’S OTHER VENTURES
From 1991 to 1999 Jerzy Owsiak was hosting many popular broadcasts that were
transmitted in several radio stations. Some of them was: „Brum”, „Się kręci”,
„Kręcioła”, etc.
Since July the 4 2016 hosts „Zaraz będzie ciemno” broadcast w Antyradio radio station,
He was also hosting many television broadcasts like: „Róbta, co chceta, czyli
rockandrollowa jazda bez trzymanki”, „Dziura w Koszu”, „ Kręcioła”, „ Bezpieczne
wakacje”, and of course every year in January he hosts „Grand Finale of Great
Orchestra of Christmas Charity”.
He is also co-author of „Orkiestra Klubu Pomocnych Serc, czyli monolog – wodospad
Owsiaka” book which is interview with him lead by Bartłomiej Dobroczyński
