2. Martyna Wojciechowska
was born on 28th September 1974 in Warsaw.
Warsaw – the capital of Poland. This amazing city is full
of contrasts, question marks and surprises.
3. Walking the streets of the Old Town and New Town allows
you to rest from the bustle of central city life. Atmospheric
alleys and squares create a unique sense of history.
4. The most beautiful planned area in Warsaw and one of the
most beautiful in Europe is a Palace-Garden complex
-Łazienki Królewskie.
5. One of the most modern institutions of its kind in Europe is
Copernicus Science Centre.
Everybody can carry out experiments, which make
complicated natural phenomena understandable – and have
great fun at the same time.
6. Martyna is a Polish TV presenter, traveller, journalist and
writer.
In 2010 she completed Seven Summits.
She is the hostess of ‘Woman at the Edge of the World’ TV
series.
She was the editor in chief of National Geographic Poland.
7. TV series -The woman at the edge of the world started off
in 2008 and it’s now the 8th season.
Each episode focuses on Martyna’s travelling to a different
country where she meets a new woman.
Along with introducing the story of the main character, the
audience gets the big picture of the hosting country and
women’s status in there.
8. The series covers feminine points of view but occasionally
episodes will feature male characters. Every episode brings
out social issues from within the hosting country, among
them: violence, poverty, animal cruelty, human trafficking,
work ethics, and human rights.
9. In August 2002
she began her
expedition to climb
seven the highest
mountains on the Earth,
starting with
Mont Blanc.
On 22nd January 2010 she summited her last
mountain Mount Carstensz becoming the
third Polish woman to achieve that and the second to do it
in Reinhold Messner way. Her expedition was featured in
the 55 minutes long documentary Korona Ziemi (The crown
of Earth) and two books Przesunąć horyzont (Move the
Horizon) and Misja Everest (Mission Everest).
10. In Poland we have got many interesting places, too. There
are mountains, the sea, clean lakes and beautiful forests.
Martyna shows us what is outside our country.
She encourages us to get to know people and their cultures.
I started my journey from my city, next, I visited Warsaw
and other interesting places in Poland.
I was also in other countries but with Martyna we can see
places which are really far from my city.
Her TV programms encourage me to explore the world.
11. My favourite landscape is the sea. I like it because I can rest
there. There are a beach and a lot of birds: seagulls and
swans. On the beach, there are a lot of children and their
parents. They lie on the sand and swim in the sea. In the
background, there are woods and cliffs. I think, it is a
fantastic landscape!
12. I am glad that I could introduce you the interesting
person - Martyna Wojciechowska and I had the chance to
show my country.
Have a nice trip.
