2. Existing Product
Tower game, with dark
colors instead of light
and a green lizard
character.
It has a reflection
technique that looks
really cool and
interesting
People will want to
play it because of
the nice look to it,
along with it looking
quite simple.
There is a score and
lives in the screen top,
which I will not have.
Instead, all I will have Is
a count of apples, and
then that many apples
will show up on the
boat at the end
There is a night sky,
and the lighting makes
it look like the floor is
water o another
reflective thing.
The character is quite
cute and simple
looking and because of
the color it really pops
out from the actual
platformer. I will try
and do this with my
characters as well.
I don’t like the
platforms, they don’t
really go well with
the background and
while they do stand
out, they seem
intrusive.
Another reason people might want to
play it is for the fun that it presents. By
the look of it, it doesn’t seem like a
challenge to beat, it seems like a
puzzle to solve which will make people
more invested in the game without
making them feel mad that they can’t
beat the game.
3. Existing Product
The aesthetic look of
this game is beautiful,
the backgrounds are
interesting and they
count on perspective.
People will want to
lay this because of
the unique style and
feel to the game, as
if it’s something that
has never been done
before.
While this game relies
on perspective and out
of the box thinking, mine
while be a lot more
simple, however I love
the colors and
backgrounds of the
game and may use them
as inspiration
The character design
is very simplistic
while I plan on going
into more detail with
mine. I don’t plan on
giving the character
a face, however.
The background has
the appearance that
fog is rolling up the
sides of the
architecture, making it
look like it’s floating in
mid air or that there is
a lot more architecture
just beneath the
surface.
4. Existing Product This game is pixelated,
like mine will be but
their style is a lot more
detailed where mine will
be a lot more simplistic.
The character looks
quirky and fun, along
with being cute.
Therefore, people will
want to play this game
and probably like this
character.
From first glance, this game looks
really fun and cute, as well as
being nicely designed. A lot of
people are drawn into looks of
things and aesthetics are really
important, which is why I want to
make my game look simplistic, but
interesting.
The background is
complex, though it
doesn’t need to be. It’s
not what people focus
on. But, by being
complex, it also looks
really well designed.
At first glance I can’t
really tell what kind of
game this is, which might
drive a lot of people
away. However, the
mystery of the game
might actually draw more
people in, because they’ll
be curious to learn what
the game is about.
Finding the balance
between the two might
be challenging, but it
could bring great results
and make people enjoy
the game even more.
The point system is a lot
like the 1st game I saw
offering health. As I
want my game to be
relaxing, I will not have
this aspect.
5. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
– All of the designs are really well done and they
look good in their own way.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
– I plan on taking some of the designs and colours
of the second game in mind when designing my
own.
