Types Of Computer
4. Analog computer
• The data, which is represented in a continuous manner,
is called as the analog data.
• The computer or device, which represents this type of
data, is called as Analog Computer.
Example: Thermometer, Speedometer of vehicle.
5.
6. Digital Computer
• The data, which is represented in a discrete manner, is
called as digital data.
• The computer, which works on this type of data, is
called as Digital Computer.
Examples:- Laptop, calculators etc.
7.
8. • Digital computer are of 4 types, On the basis
of size, speed and cost there are:-
1) Micro computer
2) Mini computer
3) Mainframe computer
4) Super computer
9. Microcomputer
• Size is minimum and it uses microprocessor.
• Also known as personal computer.
• These are mainly used in home, funs, game, business,
schools etc.
10.
11. Minicomputer
• These are known as midrange computers.
• The minicomputers are general-purpose computers.
• Super minis are powerful minicomputers.
12.
13. Mainframe Computers
• These are the large-size computers, which occupy a large
air-conditioned room full space and memory.
• It can process several million-program instructions per
second.
• Insurance companies, banks, airline and railway
reservation system etc mainly use mainframes.
14.
15. Super Computer
• Super computers are the fastest calculating devices.
• Super computer can operate at a speed measured in nano
seconds and Pico seconds.
• They are used for many scientific and technical
applications, including weather fore casting and
automotive design and realistic graphics seen in movie
special effects.
16.
17. Hybrid computer
The computer or device, which exhibit the feature of
both analog and digital computer is known as Hybrid
Computer.
Examples:- this type of computer use in hospitals to
measure the heartbeat of the patient or petrol pump
and ATM.
