2. Super Computer:
Super computers are extremely powerful and the largest
computes. They can perform one trillion calculations per
second. These are fastest computers to perform their work
at any given time. These computers are made to process
very huge amount of data. They are very costly so that no
individual can afford to purchase a super computer. It costs
tens of millions of dollars. They utilize amount of
electricity that is enough for a small residential area, and
occupy several rooms or a hall. Only governments use such
computers.
3.
4. Mainframe Computer:
Mainframe computer are also very large
and powerful computers. They are smaller
in size, cost and power than super
computers. As they are capable of
processing very large amount of data, they
are mostly used by banks, air companies,
insurance companies etc.
5.
6. Mini Computers:
Mini Computer are smaller in size and lesser
in power and cost than larger computers but
they almost do all the things which larger
computer like super and mainframe computers
do. It makes Mini Computers ideal for small
companies. A minicomputer can support
several monitors and is used to make pay roll
sheets, accountings and scientific calculations.
7.
8. Microcomputers:
Microcomputers are also called Personal Computers
and Desktop Computers. They are very small
computers and particularly designed for the use of
individuals. They are very cheap and small in size and
are affordable for individuals. They were first
introduced by IBM 19S I but now several
manufacturers have introduced their microcomputers.
These computers are getting powerful day by day
because of improvement in technology. These arcs used
business, education, entertainment and almost every
field of life. Micro computers are available in the
market in a variety of types and models so much so that
they can also be classified in different types. A few
kinds of microcomputers are as follows.
9.
10. Desktop Computers:
These are the computers which you use at
your home and schools. Such computers
you also see in banks, shops, small firms
etc.
11. Laptop Computers:
They are just like a small office brief case.
They can be carried along everywhere. They
are portable and batteries are provided with
them so that they can be used anywhere. As
usually people keep them in their lap, that is
why they are called laptop computer.
12. Palmtop Computers:
These computers are also called pocket
computes. The pocket is designed for the
users who keep lots of information close to
hand wherever they happen to be. Their
small light batteries last for a long. People
can take them like their mobile phones.
13. Laptop Computers:
Rolltop computer is the latest innovation
in microcomputers. The user can
amazingly roll them like a sheet of paper
and carry them along.
