The demographic for my audience is between the ages of 15­19  ethnically white 
British females who reflect the age and ethnicity of the performer in the music video., 
because  the music video is shot in Norfolk, specifically iconic locations of Cromer a 
potential Norfolk fan base is likely to be established before appeal is broadened by 
users of  YouTube. 
 
I am primarily aiming at a pop/punk audience and an audience who are into that 
genre of music.  The potential target audience would listen to bands and artists such 
as Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy and The 1975. Here I looked up on Amazon 
what people who  listen to the 1975 listen to and also what panic at the disco listen 
too. 
(if you google any of these artists on Amazon you will get people who like this also 
like….) 
 
This is a mainstream audience which is apparent by their following on social media 
and their large audience. Many of these artists are very fan driven in the sense that 
their websites are very interactive 
 
 
Due to this I want my audience to be able to connect with my music video. The ages 
of 15­19 are at the ages where teenagers feel the most lost or have swings in mood 
from a sense of desolation to strong urges to escape the reality of exams, 
coursework and part time jobs.. My music video depicts a life of a teenager who is 
unhappy and escapes through dreams. I feel that this age range will most likely be 
able to respond to this music video because of its relatability. I feel that the type of 
fan that I am aiming at would also wear something like this 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
I researched into this because knowing this I was able to get more specific feedback 
by targeting my audience further.  
 
The feedback that I got back from my music video was mostly positive. Looking at 
the feedback that I received from people of my own age I am able to understand how 
they will feel about the music video. The feedback produced showed that my music 
video was the correct length and also that they enjoyed the montage editing.  The 
way that we got  feedback was our tutor gave the other class questionnaires and 
screened  our music videos.  This was helpful because the audience was of our own 
age and therefore the feedback  showed what our demographic will think. I have also 
used social media to get feedback, I used social media because it is a platform that 
my demographic typically use on a daily basis. 
 
Feedback 
Method 1​: Our media tutor distributed hard copies of questionnaires  to another Year 
13 media class.  This method though not offering detailed feedback did give me a 
measure of the strengths and weaknesses of my music  video. 
I received feedback from 3 females and 5 males all aged 17 that showed me what a 
small percentage of my demographic will think 
 
Method 2​:  I used an online survey to show to show a wider range of ages and to see 
what other people outside of my demographic thought of my music video. This was 
useful because some aspects of my music video could appeal to different people.  
 
Even though I got more feedback from the male variety I feel that this was just a 
coincidence. I seemed to get more positive feedback from females 
 
This was the feedback that I gained from my class/demographic about my music

The questionnaires I got back were from four male participants and three female 
participants.  
 
Male ­ I got mainly fours and fives in the first part of the questionnaire which show 
that my music video also could be aimed at a male demographic, there was however 
a half and half split opinion on whether it was the the correct length or too long. 
Overall the average score I got was a four which shows that a male audience could 
find this appealing even though I aimed it towards female’s  
 
Female ­  Overall it seemed that there was a positive response, they all said that it 
was at the correct length. All said it was a four out of five which too me shows that it 
resonated the same as the males.  
 
I also used facebook to promote a survey so that anyone from any age and gender 
could answer. Doing this meant that I could see how my music video would be seen 
and responded too by a much older and younger audience. Looking at the results I 
can see that the genre resonated with people very easily and could see it was a pop

As you can see the feedback ranges from 16­56. With the older demographic they 
seemed to relate more towards the bright colours and saw it like an 80’s pop music 
video. This shows that my music video could resonate with an older age group. What 
I learnt from doing this survey was that an audience would pick out what the music 
video was about easily. This is what I wanted as I wanted my music video to become 
accessible.  
 
 
Getting feedback for my print productions ­ I decided to compare a male and a 
female survey at my demographic.  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The survey shows that a male audience can also enjoy a music video such as this as 
much as a female audience. Both said the use of colour was a strong point which 
indicates to me that the dreaming side resinated and related to them both. 
 
Many of the surveys suggest that they found the music video entertaining ­ 
According to Lasswell this is far from just automatically consuming mass texts that 
are put in front of them but are actually consuming the texts for different reasons. 
This may be an indication as to why some enjoyed it more than others ­ because 
they got something out of it that another viewer did not.  
 
Blulmer and Katz also expand on this as they say that a media text can take away 
the problems from everyday life and that is why more people are able to relate 
towards it ­ this applies to my music video because of the content and how it is 
showing someone want to leave the reality of everyday life.  
 
In conclusion I learnt that even though my demographic is towards females between 
17­20 an older or younger audience can also appreciate it for the colour and the 
settings and not just the meaning behind it like the a younger audience could do as it 
is more likely to relate to their lives now.
