2. Institution: Twisted Pictures
We believe that our product would be suited to your institution as
we have seen that you are a large distributor/producer of successful
horror films therefore you are completely targeted to the needs of
our horror film trailer. Our ideas will be similar to many of the horror
films that you have produced so our product will fit in with the other
types of products you produce.
Furthermore, we believe that you will be able to distribute our film
trailer on a huge scale and promoting it worldwide. This will be vital
to the success of our film and we strongly believe that you are the
institution that can provide us with this opportunity.
3. Why our ideas would suit and
appeal to you!
Our trailer will be primarily focused on a tense and dramatic lead up to
conflict, where the characters will be in serious danger. Our aim will be
to keep the audience on edge and inclined to watch the rest of the
film. This will make our horror trailer entertaining and fulfilling in its
purpose to make the audience ‘scared’.
Our initial idea for the location of our film trailer will be the woods, or a
run-down building. This is because these are the most conventional
locations typically used in successful horror films. These locations create
a dark, dangerous and weary atmosphere which builds tension and
keeps the audience on edge. This will also enable us to incorporate a
mixture of natural lighting and controlled lighting which will make our
film trailer much more successful. The lighting we will use will be mainly
low-key lighting as it makes the scene much more intense and
dramatic. This will enable us to create a successful trailer which will be
suited to your company.
4. Why our trailer is conventional….
The location we will use for our horror trailer will be set In a
conventional location of the woods or an abandoned building. These
types of locations are suited to the genre and are commonly used
because they are typically dark, dangerous places where bad things
happen. This makes the atmosphere much more intense and
dramatic as the audience know that something bad will happen.
The costumes that we will use will fit the conventions of the horror
genre and follow the same style as similar successful horror trailers. Our
antagonist will have dark clothing which is typically associated with
death and danger however we may also use white clothing as this is
associated with supernatural.
The shot types and editing we will use, will be fast-paced to convey a
sense of drama and urgency. However we may use the reverse effect
of slow camera movement and editing to build tense and suspense.
5. How our trailer will appeal to our
target audience…
We will make our trailer appealing to the target audience through
analysing the results from our surveys and questionnaires. This
provided us with a valuable insight into what our target audience
liked and enjoyed about horror films. From obtaining these results we
will use this as a basis of our ideas ad develop them to suit the
preferences of our audience.
For example: We found that our audience liked characters who are
relatable and of the same age range, therefore the audience are
able to empathise with the characters and develop an attachment
to them. Also we found that our audience preferred high amounts
of tension and drama as it makes the trailer more exciting and
engaging.
