2. Introduction of urinary bladder
Structure of urinary bladder
Function of the urinary bladder
3. It is a hollow ,distensible muscular organ
situated in the pelvic cavity posterior to the
public symphysis.
Folds of the peritoneum hold the urinary
bladder in position.
Urinary bladder capacity averages 700-800ml
4.
5. The superficial layer of urinary bladder is
adventitia.
In the floor of the urinary bladder is a small
triangular area called trigone.
The two posterior corners of the trigone
contain the two ureteral openings; the
opening into the urethra, the internal
urtheral orifice, lies in the anterior corner.
6. The three layer of the urinary bladder,
deepest is the mucosa, it composed of
transitional epithelium and an underlying
lamina propria .
Rugae are also present to permit expansion
of the urinary bladder.
7. The mucosa is the intermediate muscularis,
also called the detrusor muscle , which
consists of three layers of smooth muscle
fibers.
- the inner longitudinal
- middle circular
- and outer longitudinal layers
8. The bladder is an organ of the urinary
system. It plays two main roles.
-Temporary storage of the urine
-Assists in the expulsion of urine:- the
musculature of the bladder contracts during
micturition ,with concomitant relaxation of
the sphincters.
