This document outlines a project to move a scalehouse at the Hernando County Northwest Landfill into the 21st century. It describes the goals of improving transaction efficiency and ergonomics while providing staff amenities. Some challenges included completing the project without downtime, working with the existing metal roof and footprint between scales, complying with ADA requirements, and adjusting transaction and customer behaviors. In the end, coordination, balancing the design needs, and allowing customers to adjust were key lessons learned from the project.
