3. Weak and Fortuitous Association
Aspergillus fumigatus Human pulmonary
system.
Fusarium solani, Pseudallescheria boydii
Wounds and deep cracks of the skin.
Fusarium solani Aspergillus fumigatus Pseudallescheria sp
4. Malassezia – present on skin or outer ear canals of the mammals.
Candida species i.e C.albicans, C.tropicalis, C.glabrata – gastro
intestinal tracts/ normal skin.
Malassezia Candida albicans
9. They include skin infecting Dermatophytes
Arthoderma, Ajellomyces.
Blastomyces dermatitidis causes Blastomycosis in
mammals.
Penicillium marneffei causes hepatic lesions in Bamboo
rats and later it leads to death.
Cutaneous Pathogens
11. Subcutaneous pathogens
Associated by the pathogens Cladophialophora, Phialophora.
Cladophialophora bantiana causes brain abscess , especially in
Humans.
Acremonium falciforme and leptosphaeria senegalensis is a cause of
mycetoma.
12. Ocular Pathogens
The mammalian eye presents a special habitat for large
number of fungal species implanted by plant debris.
Fusarium solani is the comman cause of Blindness in the
mammals.
Reptiles is also effected.
13. Opportunistic Pathogens
Aspergillus fumigatus causes pulmonary disease especially
in fowls, penguins and other birds.
Cryptococcus neoformans causes Cryptococcal Meningitis.
14. Conclusion
Fungal associates with vertebrates by commensal,
Pathogenic , weak and fortuitous association.
Association may be beneficial for the fungi but most
of the times it is a problematic to the vertebrates.
