colonies, protectorates, territories
• Cologne: colonies themselves are called "crown colony" in the British
Empire. They have their own government and are directly dependent on
the metropolitan government, which exercises a true employment policy.
• Protectorates: mentoring relationship that is established by a treaty
between two states assigned to the stronger power of control over the
foreign policy of the weakest.
• Territories: Considered the colonies as an extension of metropolitan cities
and institutions representing the people.
