2. Brief Explanation Of Class Retreats Class Retreats at AIS/D are considered as bonding time for all of us- the students. It’s a time when we can relax an have fun. It is a time for the teachers to get to know us better. It is a fun day away from school and with our classes. A relaxation time and a time to spend with friends. A time to make to new friends and to get to know each other. A TIME FOR… Fun and Games! :)
3. The American Club- How We Got There We got to the American Club with our School bus. We shared the bus between our advisory (Ms. Shaffer) and Ms. Bretzfield’s Advisory. It was a lot of fun, we talked to all our friends and we enjoyed the bus ride. Us 6th Graders were lucky because the 7th Grade was going to the American club too but, they got there much, much later because they had to walk there. The bus ride was really short even with the congested roads of Dhaka.
4. At The American Club- What We Did… When we reached the American Club our 2 Advisories met up with the other 4 Advisories. Then we divided ourselves into 5 groups- so that we could rotate to our 5 different activities without chaos. We had fun in the activities, Here are the 5 things that we did- Ms. Shaffer’s Activity- Hula-Hoop Challenge: We had to jump through a Hula-Hoop’s in record time in a circle while holing hands and here’s the catch- we couldn’t use our hands!
5. At The American Club- What We Did… (Continued) Ms. Bretzfield’s Activity- Have You Ever? In Ms. Bretzfield’s activity you had to stand on a dot and there would be on person in the Middle who would say- ‘Have you ever…’ and if had ever done that you would have to switch dots with somebody and whoever does not get a dot has to stand in the middle and ask an question. Mr. Cooper’s Activity- Untie the Knot! In Mr. Cooper’s activity you have to get in a circle and then you have to pick up a loop of string. Then you would have to work as a group to untie the string and make sure there were no knots, sounds easy right? NO! You cannot let go of the piece of sting you are holding is the trick bit- right guys?
6. At The American Club- What We Did… (Continued) Mr. Haque’s Activity- Hula- Hoop House In Mr. Haque’s Hula- Hoop Activity you have to construct a specified Hula Hoop house and then crawl through it- with our touching the Hula- Hoops; trust me it is much harder then you think it is. We got our hands all muddy! Ms. Cover’s Activity- Hula- Hoop Raise This was our last activity before lunch and it was the hardest but we managed to raise the Hula- Hoop using only one finger! Lunch For lunch we all had Pizza except for some of the people who were fasting.
7. The Last Activity At School Finally we went back to school for our last activity. The Bus ride was fun but it was really quick! Our last activity was creating a team and then designing a special padding so that our egg would not break. We were only aloud to use 10 drinking straws and 1 meter of masking tape. Sadly our egg- Eggbert did survive the fall and died. And that was the end to our fun day and the start of the weekend where I would be moving houses!
