2. Photographs
For the identity theme, I intend to photograph the different
people and cultures in Sheffield. This fits the identity theme as
it successfully denotes the identity of the city through the
people that live in it. As the Millennium Gallery have an ethos
to be environmentally friendly, photographing the people and
cultures links to the ethos as the people make the environment
and learning about the types of people that live in an area
gives an initial insight into how they treat their home.
3. Shot Types
The main shot types I will use in my photography are close-ups
as I will take portrait shots. For this, I will need a portrait lens to
capture the subjects effectively. I will alternate through a deep
depth of field and a shallow depth of field as I sometimes I will
make the background out of focus. Most of the time, I will
probably take the pictures in an automatic setting but I may
use a wider aperture when I need to let more light into the
image.
4. Shoot
The theme for the photo shoot is identity.
When taking my photos, I will most likely take my images as a raw file
type because it enables me to have a higher quality image.
Recce is the informal term for reconnaissance. It refers to the location
scouting of an area.
My shoot will most likely occur in the daytime and I will photograph one
person at a time directly after one another.
I will need a DSLR camera and a tripod
5. Props & Costume
Depending on the people I photograph, I will need certain
props and costume.
T o represent the different cultures, I will request people dress
in their traditional dress. And there may be various props in the
background such as a computer for a young person to connote
the type of person I am capturing.
6. Risks
When shooting my photography, I may end up not capturing as
many cultures/ types of people as I hope. Also, I may not
successfully represent the subject in the image. To avoid these
risks, I will talk to the models I use to find out more about their
culture/personality and I will make sure I capture something
significant in the image so the audience knows what I’m trying
to represent.
7. Final Work
Once I’ve finished taking the collection of images; I will call it
this will come under the portraiture genre.
9. Poster & exhibition ideas
For my poster, I will have a picture of one or more of the
subjects I photographed displayed as the main body and the
title of the collection clearly written at the top. To promote the
exhibition, my poster will include the dates and times of the
exhibition and a brief description of what it’s about.
