• Livestock are domesticated animals raised in an agricultural setting to
produce commodities such as food, fiber and labor. Livestock are generally
raised for profit

9. IMPORTANCE OF LIVESTOCK
• Agriculture contributes more than 21% in the overall GDP of
Pakistan.
• Livestock contributes about 53% of the agri. Value added& 12
percent share in exports.
• Gross value addition of livestock = Rs. 1538 billion (2009-10).
• Important component of high value human food
