These sentences will not have no/not & will end on (.)
1. Affirmative Sentences
There are three
types of Sentences:
1. Priya is not working these days.
2. You were not present in the class yesterday.
3. There are no students in the class now.
4. Kamal doesn’t have a car.
5. I could not complete your work yesterday.
6. She didn’t bring my book that day.
7. There was no water in the lake.
These sentences will have no/not & will end on (.)
There are three
types of Sentences:
2. Negative Sentences
1. Why is Priya not working these days?
2. Why were you not present in the class yesterday?
3. Is Ram present in the office now?
4. Have you brought my book?
5. Does she like badminton?
6. Why is there no water in the jug?
7. When did he reach Surat?
These sentences ask a question,
they may or may not have no/not & will end on (?) Question Mark

Subject + Main Verb + Object
Examples:
 I read newspaper.
 He plays cricket.
 You work very hard.
 She comes everyday.

Examples:
 Priya is working these days.

 Where is Priya working these days?
 You were present in the class yesterday.
 Were you not present in the class yesterday.
 Why were you not present in the class yesterday?
 Rita has completed her assignment.
 Has Rita was completed her assignment?
 How Has Rita was completed her assignment?
 They are coming to attend this meeting.
 Are they coming to attend this meeting.
 When are they coming to attend this meeting?

with a helping verb & a main verb

 They went to attend the meeting on Sunday.

 How Did they go to attend the meeting on Sunday?
Examples of Interrogative Sentences without a helping verb.
1. In simple past tense interrogative sentences:
The main verb in past simple tense should be simple verb.
Examples:
Did she went to meet her mother last Sunday?
Did she go to meet her mother last Sunday?
Common mistakes in interrogative sentences
2. In interrogative sentences with “wh” word
The helping verb in interrogative sentences must be moved out
Examples:

How to transform positive sentence into interrogative sentence

Examples of interrogative sentences with a helping verb & a main verb
  • 14. Do/does/did + Main Verb + Object (Start the sentence with ‘Do/does/did’ ) A sentence can be without a helping verb.
  • 15. (Wh word) + do/does/did + Main Verb + Object (Formula for interrogative sentences Without helping verb starting with “WH” word) A sentence can be without a helping verb.
  • 16. (Wh word) + do/does/did + Subject + Main Verb + Object Examples:  Priya works in a bank these days.  Does Priya work in a bank these days?  Why does Priya work in a bank these days?  You play football very well.  Do you play football very well?  How do you play football very well?  She liked Indian Music.  Did she like Indian Music?  When did she like Indian music?  They went to attend the meeting on Sunday.  Did they go to attend the meeting on Sunday?  How Did they go to attend the meeting on Sunday? Examples of Interrogative Sentences without a helping verb.
  • 17. 1. In simple past tense interrogative sentences: The main verb in past simple tense should be simple verb. Examples: Did she went to meet her mother last Sunday? Did she go to meet her mother last Sunday? Common mistakes in interrogative sentences 2. In interrogative sentences with “wh” word The helping verb in interrogative sentences must be moved out Examples: Why you have brought this defective pen from the market?
