Advantages on use of technology in the SpEd classroom: Provides different mediums for students of different learning styles. Can be used in different content areas. Provides a quick means of acquiring information. Allows students to work together. Keeps students actively engaged. Provides real world experiences. Allows students to be independent and productive in the classroom. Makes general education content and instruction accessible for students to be successful in full inclusion.
What is Assistive Technology (AT)? Assistive Technology  device is any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially, modified or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Assistive Technology devices can be anything from a simple tool with no moving parts to a sophisticated mechanical/electronic system.
