Statistics For Bullying  30% of U.S. students in grades six through ten are involved in moderate of frequent bullying.  77% of students are bullied mentally, verbally, and physically.  43% fear harassment in the bathroom at school.  100,000 students carry a gun to school.  282,000 students are physically attacked in secondary schools each month. Bully Police USA  Indiana has a rating or grade of a B+.  Grading scale for states:  A  - States who have near perfect anti-bullying laws.  B  - States with acceptable anti-bullying laws.  C  - States with mediocre anti-bullying laws.  D  - States with worthless anti-bullying laws.  F  - States with no anti-bullying laws.
Types Of Bullies  Stressed, impulsive or unintentional bully:   - Occurs when someone is under stress or an institution is undergoing confusing, disorienting changes. This is the easiest to redirect.  Pair bullies:   - Two individuals, sometimes people who are having an affair, or who are just peers collude to intimidate others. The participation of the second individual may be covert.  Sadistic, narcissistic bully : Lacks sympathy for others. Has low degree of anxiety about consequences. Narcissistic need to feel omnipotent. May appear to have high self-esteem, but it is actually a brittle narcissism.
Bullying can Affect the Brain The University of Ottawa psychologist Tracy Valliancourt and her colleagues at McMaster proved this.  Children who are bullied are more likely than other kids to have cognitive defects.   Kids score lower on tests that measure verbal memory and executive function, a set of skills needed to focus on a task and get the job done.  Mental-health problems, such as depression, are also more common.  Kids are suspected to have a smaller hippocampus, a part of the brain involved in memory.   ( “ Sydeny Morning Herald “ )
Bullying Prevention  Whenever one witness’s someone being bullied, one should tell an authority figure such as: teachers, principle, manager, parents, etc.  Report it if one such as yourself, has been bullied.
