2. The Cahuilla Tribe The Cahuilla lived near what is now known as the Mojave desert. They lived in a house called a kish. One tradition that they had is weaving baskets.
3. The Chumash Tribe The Chumash mainly lived along the south central part of California's pacific coast. They mainly ate acorns, and sea animals.
4. The Hupa Tribe Hupa are Native Americans. Their traditional land is Hupa Valley. The Hupa used baskets to store and carry food and other supplies.
5. The Miwok Tribe In 2008, ancient artifacts related to Miwok ancestors were unearthed in Calaveras County, some as many as 5000 years old. Many of the artifacts will be reburied with a special ceremony. The Miwok believe the artifacts belong to the land.
