11. Lean (&) Education makes sense
• Most teaching pedagogies include feedback and
continuous improvement aka PDCA
• Education is more like services
Co-creation
Process is exposed to ‘customer’
• Educational support processes are also services
but different

13. Persona’s
Lectoraat Lean / WCP
Persona 1: Hanneke
32 jaar
Deeltijder
Persona 5 Fleur (omscholer)
29 jaar
Deeltijder
17. Lean = Change, but why change?
• Change drivers
Regulatory, financial,
technological,…
all have a size of impact and
an urgency
• You face change constraints
Ability to change,
interdependence, time frame,
continuity requirements,…
Lectoraat Lean / WCP 18
1. What drives your Lean
activities?
2. How big and urgent are these
changes?
3. Do the required changes
substantially impact several
other processes?
4. Do you have capacity and
experience to change?
5. Can you shut down
operations for a while?
18. Lean = Change, but how?!
• Kaizen (both a concept and a change method)
small, frequent steps of local improvements
• Kaikaku
large, radical change in one big transitional step
• Model cell
large radical change in gradual controlled
manner/transition – fully functional

• Formed group of teaching and support staff
• Interview potential students and employers
• Formulated Persona’s
• Reconsider strategy
• Select target group

• All while group was not hindered by regular activities
Lectoraat Lean / WCP 27
26. Energizing, Exhausting, Effective
• Integrated approach works like a treat
• Easier to manage the change
• Emersion of staff > ambassadors
• Less distraction of everyday noise
