IG3 Production Log
10th September 2012
Each member of our group was assigned a job role, these would be the jobs that they would
be doing for the whole of the filming process. Once we had discussed it and decided on who
would do what we researched each job title so that we could get a better understanding of
what we would have to do.
We decided on this:
Director – Liam
Camera Person – Cesca
Sound Person – Charlotte
Production Runners – Ashleigh and Carrie
11th September 2012
We had our first production meeting today, in this we discussed and arranged which days
we would be filming, we tried to make sure that we would all be available to do it on the
same days, but the only days the actors would be available are weekends and the person we
chose to be the camera person in our group works every weekend sowe decided that when
we are filming and our camera person can’t be there, one of us would fill in for them. We
also planned to film on Friday 14th September and this will be taking place inside at one of
the group member’s house, this will be where most scenes are shot and we booked out the
equipment so that we would be prepared and ready for it.
14th September 2012
Today was the first day of filming, but I couldn’t make it however I got all of the footage off
the other members of the group and they filled me on everything that was done and what
was happened. The filming went on from 5pm till 7pm, there were difficulties that occurred
when they was recording the sound this because we had to ensure that it was silent without
interruptions and sometimes there was interruptions. We did get most of the shots that
were needed; however we have to do some of the same shots again.
17th September 2012
Today we set up premier projects we did one in standard definition and one in HD. The
standard one was for practise as we was given a task to put together a short sequence of
someone making themselves a cup of tea, we had to cut the clips down and put them
2. together, making sure it all fits together correctly and keeps up its continuity all the way
through. This was to give us a bit more experience and familiarise ourselves with the
software again, this task helped me gain more skills on this software and I now remember
how to use it again as it had been a while since we last used it. I finished the practice edit
today and exported the file so that I could upload it YouTube and from there I then
uploaded it to my blog I then did a write up to explain what I did and why and uploaded that
to my blog as well, so that task is now complete.
20th September 2012
Today was the first lesson I started working on my first film edit, working on putting the
scenes we had together and synchronising them with the audio. We have planned to film
one day at the weekends and put the shots together during the lessons I have in here
throughout the week.
21st September 2012
Today we filmed for the second time this time, only me, Liam and one of the actresses could
make it, we filmed in the last place of last time as we had to re-shoot some of the scenes
that we got last time and had other scenes to do in different rooms. We worked from 6pm
to 7.10 pm with Liam working on the camera filming and me recording all the audio. We
could not do all of the scenes that we had planned to do because only one actress could
make it, so that’s why we only filmed for an hour this time.
25th September 2012
Today I looked at the new footage we had, that we did on Friday and I copied the files into
my folder, opened up my adobe premiere project that I had been working on with the other
scenes that we filmed last week and I began looking through them all then started editing
them and putting them next to each other on the time line in the way I want them to appear
in the finished film.
28th September 2012
Today we had planned to film again but the actress we needed that we didn’t have last
week couldn’t make it, so we had no choice but to postpone ittill next week.
2nd October 2012
Today we were given a short tutorial to refresh our memories on how we use the software
that we will be using to create our opening title credits, which is Adobe after Effects. I also
had a look at text websites using the genre as horror to see if there’s any type of text that I
want that isn’t already on the software that I am using.
3. 13th October 2012
Today was the day we had planned to film, however I couldn’t make it because I became ill
on Friday and was still feeling unwell also Charlotte our sound recorder was also unable to
make it, but the filming went ahead and I was told everything I missed after it. This time
every scene we already had, had to be filmed again as we decided to use Carrie our
Production Runner as the Everything had to be filmed again due to us having a new actress
however this only took 2 hours and they were able to get a few extra scenes as well.
15th October 2012
I looked at all the scenes and listened to the audio files that was taken on Saturday and I
renamed them all so I would know what scenes what I deleted all the old stuff as we
wouldn’t need them anymore, this meant that I would have to start the whole of my film
edit againbut this footage is better now and as I have done it before it shouldn’t take as long
this time as I will know what to do. I put all the scenes onto my adobe premiere project after
I had renamed them all as I plan to firstly cut down all the scenes to how I want them and
just work on the footage and then I will add the sound clips to my adobe premiere project
and sync them up with the clips in the right order so that it will make sense this will take
quite a bit of time but once this is done I will then be done with my edit until we have new
footage, although there isn’t much more footage that we need now, there are just a few
scenes that are yet to be filmed and these are exterior scenes.
19th October 2012
Today filming got cancelled, due to our actress being ill and there are no more shots we
need that don’t involve this actress so we had to cancel it and will just have to do more on a
weekend once she is better.
5th November 2012
Today Liam Carrie and Charlotte filmed the rest of the footage as I couldn’t make it; they did
the outside scenes and the end scene, but again they gave me the footage and audio clips
and told me everything I needed to know, that was the last time we needed to film so we
now have everything.
12th November 2012
Today I exported the file and uploaded it to my YouTube channel and then uploaded it on to
my blog as a very rough draft just to show what I have done up to now. I then did a write up
to explain that it was very rough and still needed a lot of work and a lot of things added to it
and explained how I would use certain effects and audio clips in order to improve it.

Today I beganworking on my final edit of our short film.
4. 4th December 2012
I finished doing my final edit today and now all that needs to be done is for our group to do the voice
over to analyse it and talk through it all.
