2. The 9 Elements Of The Business Model Canvas
1.1 Business Model Definition Osterwalder (2010) once said that a business model would
explain the roots of how an organization works in order to create, deliver, and preserve its value.
Referred from a definition in dictionaries, the term business model can be under stood as the plan
implemented by a company to generate revenue and make a profit from operations. The model
includes the components and functions of the business, as well as the revenue it generates and the
expenses it incurs. (Investopedia, 2013) or the simplest of definitions All it really meant was how
you planned to make money (Ovans, 2015) Moreover, Osterwalder also mentioned that the best

However, some value propositions might be similar to the existing ones but they are added
some new property and characteristic in to a new product. (Osterwalder, A., Pigneur, Y.,2010)
Therefore, as an entrepreneur, we have to think that what value we can deliver to our target
customers? Which customer s problem that we can solve? What we can serve to fulfill customer
s wants? Which product or service we present to each customer segment? A value proposition
can build a customer value through the combination of many factors in order to serve the
customer s wants. It can be in term of quantity (such as price and speed of service) or quality
(such as design and experience that customer will perceive). Osterwalder (2010) mentioned some
factors of the value propositions such as novelty, efficacy, ability to serve a specific need of
customer, design, brand, accessibility, and ability to finish a job. Novelty Some value propositions
serve the new different needs that customer might not know before because they are not existed
before. In many cases, this kind of value propositions might be related to a new technology. For
example, cell phone could build a whole new market of wireless telecommunication industry. On the
other hand, a product such as the investment fund for ethical investment is totally not related to

3. Remarque s The Trenches On The Front Lines From The...
The realism, grisly detail, and irony Remarque injects his story of WWII in the trenches on the
front lines from the German perspective somehow remains poetic because of his lyrical writing
style. Nineteenth century society was not ready for Remarque s new language of war. Until this
novel society held the illusion of waras both glorious and romantic. The idea of such a thing traces
back to the ancient Spartans carrying forth to 19th century Europe (Traver 2002). Before
Chapter One, Remarque introduces the idea of the ensuing pages are the work of a new
language about war. This book is to be neither an accusation nor a confession, and least of all an
adventure, for death is not an adventure to those who stand face to face with it. It will try simply
to tell of a generation of men who, even though they may have escaped its shells, were destroyed
by the war (Remarque Preface).
The Significance of the Epigraph
As the epigraph to the novel introduces Remarque s intention of writing the novel he dispenses
with the familiar elements of excitement and romance thus favoring a stark and entirely
unsentimental read. His language of war becomes an advocate for soldiers who meet death face
to face finding war is not an adventure. It is this message about death that Remarque succeeds in
his poetic fashion expressing his ideas engaging the reader into the crux of his message about the
evil of and written in his own language. Others wrote of the same war and soon the war to end all

4. Comparing Parents In The Glass Menagerie By James Williams
My parents love to live vicariously through me, especially my mother, and while I understand
their inclination to do this, it can make them a bit controlling of my actions. Williams exhibits in
The Glass Menagerie the damaging effects of overbearing parents on the mental and emotional
growth of their children. In the play, the mother inhibits the development of her children
because she tries to control her children s lives, which takes away the ability to become
independent and focus on personal needs. Amanda treats Laura like a child and constantly
makes decisions for her, and she and keeps him from enjoying his life. Amanda belittles Laura s
self ownership which makes Laura immature and helpless as an adult. When the subject of
gentleman callers comes up, Amanda addresses Laura, saying, How many do you suppose we re
going to entertain this afternoon? [...] [reappearing, airily] What? No one not one? You must be
joking! [Laura nervously echoes her laugh] (Williams 18). Amanda is caught up in her dreams
of marriage for Laura, made clear by her enthusiastic tone and body language, but Laura s
uncomfortable laugh shows how she is not amused by her mother s aspirations. Amanda is only
focused on what she wants for Laura, but she should really be concerned with what Laura wants
for herself. In addition, Amanda cannot accept the fact that her daughter is not going to have any
suitors; she denies reality and tries to bring Laura into her world of illusions. This irresponsible
parenting causes Laura to become the childish adult that she is. When Amanda questions where
Laura was going instead of business college, Laura explains that, I went in the art museum and
the bird houses at the Zoo. I visited the penguins every day! [...] Lately I ve been spending most
of my afternoons in the Jewel Box, that big glass house where they raise the tropical flowers (21).
Laura is twenty three years old and she is getting excited about visiting attractions meant for kids.
She would rather explore the Zoo, an art museum, or a greenhouse than attend college, exhibiting
her immature and irresponsible mindset. This juvenile behavior is what leads to Laura s
helplessness. While on the fire escape, Amanda tells Laura to make a

5. Rhetorical Analysis Of Attack Of The Zombies By Rodney Clapp
The Life of a Zombie
Rodney Clapp, writer, editor for Wipf and Stock Publishers and expert in topics such as theology
and culture, in the article, Attack of the Zombies , argues that many things in life are beginning to
resemble zombies. Clapp assumes that the audience also views zombies as lifeless creatures that
go around spreading their disease. The author s purpose is to persuade the audience to believe that
many things they see today are starting to resemble zombies. The author writes in a challenging
tone for people who question the similarity of zombies to every day life. Clapp supports his
argument by comparing and contrasting, and exemplification.
Clapp assumes that the audience sees zombies as creatures that serve no purpose, but to spread
their contagion. He refers to this in his article when asking the questions of what would you do if a
loved one was turned into a zombie. This scenario is hard to choose between because it makes the
audience feel challenged on what they would do in a situation like that. They aren t sure if they
would save someone they love by helping them or save themselves. This is significant to the
argument because he is trying to prove that we all see zombies are deathly and ... Show more

organizations and ads that end up in your spam folder or mailbox. He says they are similar in the
way that they are lifeless and swarm us all at once, like how zombies are lifeless bodies that
travel typically travel together. He does state the difference between emails and zombies by
saying emails can be deleted with a click of a button whereas zombies must be killed in a more
violent setting. This is significant because it Clapp is showing the audience how there are

8. Descriptive Essay About Disney World
On Monday Joy and her family arrived in Orlando, Florida, but they were not staying on the
Disney resort, but instead, they choose to stay at the Kissimmee Koa campground. While they all
impatiently waited to arrive at Disney World the next morning. The night before, Joy and all of her
siblings decided swimming and playing on the play grounds was the way to occupy their time.
Tuesday morning the family woke up at 8:00 a.m. and ate a quick breakfast prior to beginning
their short journey to the Disney World theme park. All of the children, including Joy were
extremely excited to arrive at Disney World because it would be their first time. They left the
campground at about 9:00 a.m. and arrived at Disney World at approximately 9:45 a.m. When
the family arrived at the theme park, it took them nearly 20 minutes to locate a parking space and
enter the park. During the entire drive to Disney World Joy thought it was all just a dream. But,
upon arriving to the actual theme park of Disney World, Joy realized her dream was really a
reality and she shed tears of excitement. Disney World is a magic kingdom full of people, buildings,
song and dance, food like homemade fudge, horse drawn street cars and horseless carriages,
statues and Disney characters. Joys family adventure began by entering through a tunnel just
below a train station before they landed right in front of cinderella s castle. Since the experience
was nothing like what joy had even been through before, she stood amazed as she viewed the castle
she dreamed about living in, much like every other girl. Six paths lead from several different angle
around the castle spreading throughout the theme park.
One of the first attractions within Disney world that Joy and her family stopped at was the
Swiss Family Treehouse. The Swiss Family Treehouse was based on a 1960 s movie, Swiss
Family Robinson . The attraction is a large treehouse accessible for children and adults to climb
and maneuver through, but it is also the makeshift home of a shipwrecked family as portrayed in
the movie. As Joy entered the enormous treehouse she was lead to a narrow staircase that was the
pathway to the dining room, kitchen, and two bedrooms. The treehouse left Joy and her siblings

funded by powerful political forces. The refusal of many insurgent groups to enter the Amnesty

1.Propose two (2) methods an HR professional could use to determine incentive pay. Specify the
main manner in which the proposed methods take into consideration individual, group, and
company performance. Justify your response.
To be effective, incentive pay should boost the kinds of behavior that are most needed, and
employees must believe they have the aptitude to encounter the performance standards. Employees
must value and appreciate the rewards, and believe the pay plan is fair. Organizations can link
incentive pay to individual performance, revenues, or other methods of success. They select

Merit pay is a system associating pay increases to ratings and evaluations on performance
assessments. This system gives the biggest pay increases to the best performers and to those
whose pay is comparatively low for their occupation. Organizations review merit upsurge grids in
fluctuating economic and financial circumstances. In companies that give yearly merit increases

12. Colonialism In Waiting For The Barbarians
Comparative Essay
Colonialism occurs when one nation seeks to extend their authority other the territory of another.
When such process occurs, the foreign ideologies conflicts with the existing ones. The spread of
euro and phallocentric ideas brings intolerance such as othering and sexism. Those with power
degrade and exclude the others to proven their status as superior. Such oppression not only have
negative impact on the victim but also oppressors themselves. In Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M

negative impact of intolerance on both the intolerant and the victims.
In Waiting, Coetzee reveals how both social grouphave been negatively effected due to intolerance
in two key moments. The first key moment Coetzee presents the negative effect of othering on the
intolerant occurred when the Colonel is torturing barbarians in the public, a little girl was
encouraged to join the torture. As the author describes, She lifts the cane, brings it down smartly on

13. Observation Of A Child Observation
Over the past few weeks I have observed a child in the twelve to eighteen month old category.
Throughout this paper I will refer to him as Z. I had five different observations, each for one hour
at the West Chester Area Day Care. I sat in classroom seven, in a little chair in the corner writing
down everything I observed about him. It was interesting to learn about Z as I watched him interact
with the adults and other kids that were in the room with him. Z caught my attentionright away in
the classroom. He was very active, walkingaround while the other children were mainly sittingor
only crawling. This lead me to choose him to observe for this project, and focus on his physical
movement and interactions with others throughout this paper. Z was always moving around,
the only time he was ever sitting still was when he was placed in a height chair for snack time.
He switched between crawling and walking. Most of the time he would walk, but then he would
fall down and continue to wherever his destination was by crawling. I noticed one day he was
holding a maraca and walked for a longer period of time than usual. According to (page 183
infants children and adolescents), it is easier for them to focus on their balance when they are
holding onto an object. He demonstrated the ability t squat down and picking something up,
before returning to a standing position. The adults encouraged his walking behaviors, so when
the group came in from the outside playground, they would let him walk in, while most of the
other kids were being pushed in the giant stroller. The average age for most kids to begin
walking is 11 months and 3 weeks, the range being 9 to 17 months, so he his definitely on track
for his age group (182). He was also able to climb up onto things. For example, when the children
were brought on walks around the neighborhood there was a giant stroller that they rode in as
mentioned earlier. Z got up the step and turned himself around to sit down in the seat. He did the
same thing on some of the steps on the playground, crawling up one and turning himself around to
sit. Walking up stairs with help is achieved on average at 16 months, so he appears to be on the
right track towards that motor skill. A baby s

Throughout life and individual can experience a myriad of unexpected developments can which
can have a dramatic effect on their lifestyle and how they are able to communicate with others.
Comorbidities are the multiple appearances of a serious chronic disease like cancer, chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiovascular disease, or diabetes, which have a
negative effect on the patient s way of life ( Comorbidities , 2016). In these situations, Health
Care providers can recommend palliative care, a specialized form of medicine that works
alongside the patient with a team of health care professionals and social workers, to individualize
a care plan toward realistic expectation and agreed upon the goals of increasing the patient s
quality of life, relieving pain, and minimizing their disease symptom level ( What is palliative
care?, n.d.). While palliative care can sometimes be mistaken as being synonymous with hospice,
the difference between the two is that hospice care relegates patients for whom are actively dying
therapeutic treatment and focus on relieving only the patient s pain and symptoms until their
eventual death. The goal of the treatment plan is to work toward managing the patient s pain and
symptoms to an attainable and desired level for a patient when curative treatment is not possible or

17. Allusion In Infinite Jest
In his celebrated 1,079 page novel set at a tennis academy and addiction recovery house, David
Foster Wallace borrows a phrase from Shakespeare s Hamlet for the title, Infinite Jest. The
allusion is grounded in the vital plot device also named Infinite Jest, a necromantic film that
engrosses the viewer to the point of catatonia and eventually death. The filmmaker is the character
James O. Incandenza, who sought to produce a film so radically entertaining that it would
affectively tear his son Hal from anhedonia, a sarcastic and apathetic state of being that
characterized, for Wallace, American culture at the time. As it becomes clear very early on in
Infinite Jest, James is dead for the majority of the plot, appearing as a ghost late in the... Show more

Catherine Nichols points this out, calling James the infinite jester of the novel (11). In view of
his connection to Yorick, the allusion to the graveyard scene in Hamlet is twice made explicit:
once near the beginning and once toward the end of Infinite Jest; Hal shares a dream with the
novel s other protagonist, whereby the two dig up James head (16 17; 934). Of course, the
graveyard dream recalls the grave scene from Hamlet, where the titular character discovers that
the skull uncovered by the gravediggers is that of his childhood jester Yorick, whom he
describes as a fellow of infinite jest (5.1.191 2). As Indira Ghose suggests, the infinite in this line
is enclosed within Hamlet s recollection of the jester, so the infinity is reduced to the confines
of a single character s memory and is recalled only upon his chance encounter with the skull; the
infinite is juxtaposed with the image of the empty skull he holds up to the audience, so the
infinite as a concept is exposed as a huge joke (1015). Aside from James The Joke, his film
Infinite Jest itself functions as a jest: the overt impossibility of a film engaging a viewer to the
point to death, the hyperbolic mother son theme parodying psychoanalytic theory, and, perhaps
most poignantly, the glaring absence of the infinite. In Hal s dream, he digs up his father s head
in order to find, as it is elsewhere inferred, the master copy of the film. However, as the reader
and Hal are aware, James head was destroyed, thus the film no longer exists. This absence recalls
the gaping emptiness of the jester s skull as Hamlet holds it up to the audience. In both cases, the
infinite itself becomes the joke, in the sense that the yawning absence belies the immutable nature
of infinity. Likewise, Wallace s

18. Video Games Should Be Considered A Form Of Art
Persuade Essay Imagine it is 1990 and you just heard one of your friends got the new Super
Mario World video game. It s after school and your friend invites you over to play this new game
with him. When you both sit down to play you become engulfed in the new colors, structures, and
features of this new game. The only thing you can think about is the graphics being far better than
any
game you own at home. Nowadays, the graphics of video games are of much higher quality than in
the 1990 s, with three dimensional design, high color schemes, an endless amount of architecture,
and all kinds of features. These games were created by some of the finest technology teams out
there, giving them better quality engineering tools as the years go on. With this being said, video
games should be considered a form of art.
Video games are highly designed with artistic expression in the digital world. There is a lot of
controversy in the video game industry, but there are very few reasons to back up the disbelief
about video games not being considered art. In the article by Nick Gillespie, Are Video Games
Art? movie critic Roger Ebert has an opposing view on whether video games should be
considered art. In 2010 Ebert stated, Video games can never be art (qdt. in Gillespie 46). It is
obvious that he is not intrigued with the idea of video games being considered a form of art. While

19. Civil Liberties And The Government Of The United States
Legal historian Geoffrey Stones claims that the government of the United States has in the past
overreacted in times of war and crisis, and has seriously violated many civil liberties. A
democracy requires high levels of civil rights, liberties, and political openness in order for its
citizens to fully participate in political election, and other governmental activities; however, the
demands of national security usually require much less openness, secrecy, and limitations on civil
rights and liberties. Throughout history there have been times were large numbers of individuals
have experienced political discrimination and have had great difficulty exercising their civil
liberties. Ethnic minority groups, and immigrants have been among the most targeted by the
government in times of crisis. Under conditions of war, American civil liberties and political
participation are usually curtailed and violated in many ways by the government, usually with the
active support of some groups and people in society. Times of national security threat are often
accompanied by what historian Richard Hofstadter calls the paranoid style in American politics. In

20. Examples Of Alienation Of The Self And Hypocrisy
Alienation of the self and hypocrisy
One of the main aims of the director is to exhibit the alienation of the self and the hypocrisy in
modern society. From the very beginning of the film is made clear by means of the conversation
and reactions within the family once Cristopher has got graduated. The importance of life, from
the sight of his parents, is linked to material possessions and public display. Once the protagonist
leaves all his past behind heading for adventures on his way to Alaska, there is another palatal
conversation with one of his coworkers that clearly highlights this point: why people, why every
fucking person is so bad to each other so fucking often .
This awareness about the hypocrisy and spotlighting the superficiality ... Show more content on

As it is quoted in the novel, Christopher was deeply touched and influenced by Thoreau s ideals,
about both his philosophical and economical approaches. His refusal of capitalism as the
economical model for the system and the individualization it implies keeps pushing him forward,
away from society, and looking a better connection with nature. Nature is thus understood as the
summum of virtue and pureness in contrast with the vices and depravation of the system.
This concept is repeated by means of representing the highest grade of happiness when being in
nature: on the beach, at the top of the mountain, kayaking along the river, running among horses
and going into the wilderness of deep Alaska.
Self Redemption
Despite of the journey, the adventures he comes through and the achievement of his goal, the
protagonist is shown at the very end of the film as a declining being at his twilight. As he sees
himself too much isolated, he realizes about the most important moral in life, which is summarized
handwritten by himself in real life, novel and film adaptation: happiness is only real when shared .
After all his struggles to get into the wild looking for happiness, he spends his last moments
thinking of his relatives, whose he had pushed himself out as they were a load to fulfill his self
realization.

It is human nature to make mistakes; however, mistakes that cause harm to someone else could be
considered negligence. In the case with Mr. Benson in the Neighborhood Newspaper article, a
mistake was made that was irreversible. He went into the hospital to have his leg amputated, and the
doctor amputated the wrong leg. The question is was the doctor negligent in his practice? Is the
amputationof the wrong leg considered to be malpractice on the doctor s part? This paper will
differentiate between negligence, gross negligence, and malpractice. After differentiating between
these terms, it will be determined if the doctor operating on Mr. Benson was considered to be
negligent, gross negligent or was this mistake malpractice.

proper documentation had occurred. However, one can assume documentation was not done
properly as the wrong leg had been amputated. If proper documentation had been completed in Mr.
Benson s case, it is possible someone besides the surgeon may have caught the wrong leg was about
to be amputated. An example of proper documentation would be the consenting of the patient for
surgery. Mr. Benson had to have been consented for surgery, which means a doctor or a nurse
practioner would discussed with the patient which leg was to be amputated, signs and symptoms
of complications and what to expect after surgery. If there was any question once the patient was
in the operating room, which leg to amputate, anyone could have looked in the patient s chart to
see what Mr. Benson had been consented for. Documentation of the time out could have also
prevented Mr. Benson from having the wrong leg amputated. The reason being is, everyone
involved in the case would have stopped and made sure the right patient was in the operating room
and the right surgery was to be performed so it could be documented this act was completed. Not
only proper documentation could have prevented this horrible act but also the help of the nurses
could have prevented a mistake like this from happening.

was left with Galerius in the court of the emperor Diocletian. When Diocletian and Maximian had

one has to stay and govern the land and the other has to go out and win wars and earn land. Most
of the time, you get to be emperor when your father resigns, but you could also be emperor if the
people want you to lead them. On one of my slides, I made a collage about christianity, because
Constantine made the first Roman church council. This boosted the religion of christianity,

what a binding spell it has on the two men playing golf. In Updike s conclusion and throughout

John Updike s poem The Great Scarf of Birds , he uses diction and figurative speech to depict the

Man will be uplifted just like the geese flying south for the winter by observing the exquisiteness
of nature around him. Updike continues his portrayal of the vast splendor of nature through
metaphors, similes, and diction pertaining to a large flock of starlings that flew and over and lit
on the gold course where the two men in the poem are playing. The approaching flock of birds
seem like a cloud of dots (Line 16) on the horizon to observers. The author compares The image
of the steadily approaching flock of starlings to iron filings (the birds) stuck to a magnet through
a piece of paper (the horizon). The men stand in awe of the black, writhing, approaching mass,
much like children do when the magnet picks up the filings through the paper. By comparing the
approaching birds to the magnet and iron filing scenario in a simile, Updike subtly likens the
men reaction to a small child s reaction when he/she sees the magic of the magnet and the iron
filings for the first time. The simile purpose is to show how nature can make grown men feel like
small, free little kids when experiencing nature at its best. As the observers continue to watch the
looming flock of birds, the flock became one huge pulsating mass of birds that seemed as much as
one thing as a rock. (Line 22) Updike once again eloquently portrays nature as absolutely stunning
to show how nature affects man. The birds descended in a huge evenly tinted (Line

24. Fmri, The New Aspects Of Deception Detection
fMRI, THE NEW ASPECTS OF DECEPTION DETECTION
INTRODUCTION
If deception becomes human behaviour, lie detection will play key role of proving their deceit. For
a century, researchers studied significantly about lying and deception as the human behaviour in
scientific, philosophical and legal aspects (Ford, 2006) and attempted to create the instruments to
detect lies. Many techniques were developed to detect deception and determine the truth
(Kleinmuntz and Szucko, 1984 cited in National Research Council, 2003).
In early of the 20th century, lie detection was invented by using physiological responses as
indicators of deception, known as the polygraph (National Research Council, 2003). Polygraph has
been used in many objectives, for example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, the definition of human deception will be demonstrated followed by the historical
background of lie detection and development of the polygraph. After that theoretical and
drawbacks of polygraph are reviewed. Moreover, fMRI will be explained in scientific aspect.
Finally, the evaluation of fMRI on human deception and its benefits will be shown to complete the
idea of the new aspect of detection deception.
What is the Human Deception?
Many researchers used to define deception in various definitions. For example, Mitchell, 1986
defines deception as a false communication that tends to benefit the communicator which is a
broad meaning and describes many acts as deceit. Nonetheless, there are many people who
disagree with this (Mitchell, 1986 cited in Vrij, 2008, 12). While, Vrij, 2008 defines lying as an
intentional act also implies that if two people contradict each other, this does not automatically
mean that one of them is lying (Vrij, 2008, 14). Thus, it can be explained that perception depends
on action s purpose of communicator and also the perception of the receiver.

Enslaving Nature of Love Exposed in Lucretius
In Dryden s Lucretius, the speaker argues that (1) Love is a sickness, (2) Love s sickness enslaves,
and (3) all attempts to remedy Love s sickness are vain and will only frustrate the lover. Just as
Milton s Adam and Eve become enslaved to sin by disobeying God, so mankind becomes enslaved
to Love when pierced with Cupid s winged arrow . In Milton, there is redemption and freedom
through Christ, but in Dryden, no salvation from love is possible. This poem leaves mankind in a
hopeless, frustrated state, unable to break free from love s yoke. This essay will center on the last

The poem argues that love is not only a sickness, but also as a form of enslavement.
The couplet argues that All the wayes they try, successeless all they prove implies that these
lovers are trapped, and cannot satisfy love s demands. This enslavement idea is further proved
upon examining the method by which a person falls in love: From whence he first was struck,
he thither tends; Restless he roams, impatient to be freed . The lover is described as impatient to
be freed which implies that he is not free, but instead a victim, struck by a Fiery dart , and now
is cursed with an endless appetite for love. The lover is a slave seeking satisfaction, but never
finding it: Hence thirst and hunger may be satisfi d,/But this repletion is to Love deny d . Once a
person is struck with Cupid s arrow, enslavement begins and Love with fantomes cheats our longing
eyes,/Which hourly seeing never satisfies . Love s enslavement not only makes all attempts to
break free fruitless, but also makes the frustrates the lover.
In the enslaved state, the lovers tries to satisfy love s demands, eager to inject the sprightly seed
but All the wayes they try , the lovers fail. Even though this poem is all about how love enslaves,
the speaker ironically offers remedies. The speaker argues

intrinsic clotting system, the factors of prothrombin and fibrinogen that are involved, as well as
prekallikrein (PK) and high molecular weight kininogen (HK). Additionally, Patient 2 s heparin
anticoagulant therapy needed to be monitored; heparin being an anticoagulant which is

Many tourists visit New Zealand just to see and experience their culture. In a report from
Kwintessential.co.uk, it is written: A Maori will spontaneously launch into speech and song. Even
though they may not have met each other, they will know many songs they can sing together and
often use these to close or enhance speeches. They will often call for visitors to do the same and it
would be wise to have 2 or 3 practiced songs from your own country to reply with.
In addition to the Maoris speeches and songs, they have a dance called Haka . It is an ancient war
dance used on the battlefield and when groups came together in peace. According to
newzealand.com, the dance include violent foot stamping, tongue protrusions and rhythmic body

the pixel domain. Detection of the watermark can be done by correlating the pixels values with
expected pixel values. The drawbacks of this technique is limited information embedded, less
resistant to noise and compression and less robust to geometric attacks. These techniques are
abandoned recently[17]. Some common spatial domain algorithms include Least Significant
Bit(LSB)Modification, Patchwork, Texture Block Coding, Correlation based, SSM modulation
based etc. The most commonly used algorithm is LSB.
1)Least Significant bit(LSB)
LSB which replaces the least significant bits of pixels selected to hide the information. In this

A remarkable feature of this technique is the high robustness to any kind of distortion, since both
image areas are distorted in a similar way, which means that the watermark recovery by

B.Transform domain
Transform domain method takes advantage of properties of alternate domains by modifying
transform coefficients to support additional features. Transform domain method is divided into
frequency domain and wavelet domain.
1)Frequency domain
In frequency domain, we insert watermark into the coefficients of a transformed image[24] and
then watermarked image is inverted to obtain image in spatial domain.[24] The approaches used in
frequency domain are JPEGbased[ 25],spread spectrum [26],[27] and content based approaches
[28].Frequency image transformations include the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), Discrete
Cosine Transform (DCT) and others.
a)Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT)
Fourier transform is a powerful tool for analyzing the components of a stationary signal (signal in
which there is no change in the properties of signal) [29]. It is a powerful tool for processing
signals that are composed of some combination of sine and cosine signals (sinusoids) [30]. Fourier
coefficients have two components phase and magnitude[31]. One of the main advantage of DFT is
that it is rotation, Translation and scaling invariant which helps it in recovering from geometrical
distortions. Licks algorithm [32] is one example.

37. The Courage And Loyalty Have Been Used For Many Years
The themes courage and loyalty have been used for many years. The trait courage means to face
difficulty, challenges, and danger, even if there is an element of major risk and loyalty is to
commit or show devotion to something or someone. Courage and loyalty go together excellently
as loyalty towards someone or something can drive a person to do courageous acts. A great
example is the firefighters at the Chernobyl nuclear accident. These firefighters rushed into the
nuclear power plant after it failed in an effort to put out the fire and save people and after they
were taken to the hospital where they would die of radiation poisoning. The firefighters
demonstrated courage and loyalty towards the people who needed their help even though it was
a dangerous situation. Not only are these traits shown though out real life, they are also present
in the media in the form of themes. Ranging from television, movies, music, and literature, the
theme loyalty and courage seem to be very popular. One great example of these themes in the
media is the book Home Truths , by Jill Maclean. The story is about a fourteen year old boy who
shows courage and loyalty towards his younger sister as he protects her from their abusive father.
Clearly, these stories have a definitive theme of loyalty and courage but perhaps, one of the best
examples of courage and loyalty is the novel The Chrysalidsby John Wyndham. The Chrysalids is a

peace prize. Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse, is about a boy named Siddhartha who leaves home
when he is in his teenage years, so that he can go out and seek nirvana and find enlightenment. One
of the symbols in Siddhartha is a smile. A smile is used in the book to show characters that have
been enlightened. In Siddhartha, Hermann Hesseuses the smile as a symbol to show enlightenment
which is shown through Vasudeva, Gotama, and Siddhartha.
One of the few characters in the novel that are enlightened is Vasudeva. Vasudeva was a ferryman
who was always learning and listening to the river. On one ferry ride with Siddhartha, the two
talked about their lives. During the talk, Vasudeva smiled: The rower smiled, swaying gently (102).

To reach nirvana, one must find enlightenment. Siddhartha, at the end of his journey, does reach
enlightenment, which is shown by him smiling, He smiled peacefully and gently, perhaps very
graciously, perhaps very mockingly, exactly as the Illustrious One had smiled (151). The smile
reveals that he has become enlightened. A quote that also tells how he has become enlightened
shares that his loyal friend, Govinda, compares Siddhartha s smile Gotama s smile, And Govinda
saw that this mask like smile of simultaneousness over the thousands of births and deaths this smile
of Siddhartha was exactly the same as the calm, delicate, impenetrable, perhaps gracious, perhaps
mocking, wise, thousand fold smile of Gotama... (151). Comparing Siddhartha s smile with Gotama
s smile shows that Siddhartha is similar to the illustrious one, who is enlightened. Siddhartha s
journey to becoming enlightened definitely did not end badly for the lad, who in the end, definitely
did become

39. The Biggest Slippery Slope-Personal Narrative
I was running down the field against Inter Lakes biggest rival Moultonborough. As the ball
floats through the air heading towards the goalie I know I can reach, but I knew it would be close.
As I approached the now rolling ball, I realize that the goalie would make it just before me.
Desperate for a goal I go to the last resort and decide to slide for the ball. I slide as quickly as
possible which resulted in me getting the slightest of touch on the ball that it slips past the goalie.
I now realized that I had a chance to score the goal I had worked for since the beginning of the game
. With the goalie out of position, I go to propel my body back up with my hand. As my hand hits
the frozen fall ground it bent back and the sound of my bone braking ran through my body.
I have to get back up and score the goal my brain was saying but my body was in shock and I laid
there in the cold grass. The ref blew the whistle and my good friend Brandon comes over to help
me while the others tell my coach to get out on the field or wait for me to get back up.
You good? asked Brandon.
I responded with, Yeah I m good but I broke my wrist. .
Brandon looked up and gave my coach a sign that something had broken.
By then my coach had ordered everyone for some space and he knelt down and said, Whats wrong .
My left wrist broke I replied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

On top of that the bag of ice had a hole in the side and was leaking all over me and the hospital

explained I played soccer. Forty minutes later, I was finally getting a x ray done and they did
confirm it was broken. In result of the swelling I had to wait to cast and they temporarily gave me

40. Aging Out Research Paper
Introduction and Definition of Foster Children Aging Out
The term aging out refers to children within a state s foster care system who are still in the system
upon reaching the age of majority or when they have graduated from high school (Craft, 2017,
Aging Out). Many of these children have not found permanency with an adoptive family ... or they
have not been able to return to their biological parents (Craft, 2017, Aging Out). A child typically
ages out at 18 years, but some states have extended services beyond this age because so many
young adults are just not ready to be thrust out into the world on their own at such a young age
(Craft, 2017, Aging Out). If a foster parent chooses to continue parenting the foster child once they
have aged out of the system, they are able to as long as the foster youth is okay with this. If an
individual continues fostering a child, they will no longer receive money from the state. Foster care
is intended to be a temporary, safe living arrangement for children whose parents for some reason
cannot adequately care for them. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While I was never within the foster system, four of my siblings were. In 2016 my foster sister
aged out of the foster system. She was one of the lucky ones. The family she was living with
wanted to continue housing her and being part of her family despite the fact that they were not
going to adopt her. She was within the foster system for about four years and then she was
considered to have aged out. The family she is living with fought for her after she was no longer
within the system. They were able to extend her foster care until she turns 21. Her foster parents
are still in her life and will be at least until she turns 21. Before this placement, she was terrified
of what was going to happen once she reached the age of 18. She did not like the foster family she
was living with and believed that they would kick her out once she turned

41. Reflection On The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night...
Everyone in life has someone that they cherish, take to heart and most importantly value The
Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night Time written by Mark Haddon in 2003, follows the
journey of a young boy who suffers from autism, Christopher and the struggles he faces to be
independent in a world that seems hostile and harsh to him. Inspired by Jane Austen s works, Mark
Haddon wrote this book as a medium to portray the innocence and naivety of childhood in an
entertaining yet meaningful way. Ultimately, he wanted to show and remind children about how
fortunate they were without the pain and difficulties of living with autism that plague children like
Christopher. Written in the first person narrative point of view, Haddon wanted us, his... Show more

. Christopher uses these items as tools to organize his way of thinking, when he uses the Monty
Hall problem to explain his perspective that of Mr. Shears has been wrong, moreover these puzzles,
maps and math problems serve as Christopher s primary means of achieving a sense of security.
These items keep coming back continually throughout The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night
time, but they appear most often when Christopher encounters new information that has not fully
been processed in his mind, or when he experiences a particularly confusing or challenging event.
When his thoughts become jumbled in the train station in Swindon, for instance, Christopher
thinks of the riddle to visualise the soldiers that pass the time. He also uses maps to achieve his
goals. He uses a map when he searches the neighborhood for Wellington s murderer, and when he
tries to find the train station in Swindon (His home town), and yet again to find Mother s apartment
when he arrives in London. In essence, these different items provide Christopher with a strategy to
follow when a problem involves too many other things for him to reach a

42. Leaders, Leadership, And Leadership
To Be a Leader Leadership is something that can come naturally to some, but challenging to
others. Some struggle to find their voice, while others are heard too much. In a busy world like
today, it is easy to spot leaders and their followers . But this is especially challenging for our
younger generation due to many things. But all young leaders and leaders in general, possess
similar traits that make them the leaders that they are. In my short essay, I will go over the
commitments and traits of a leader, challenges of being a young leader, and why do I consider
myself to be a leader. Being a leader is something that everyone puts their own spin on . Everyone
has a different approach to being a leader (some more effective than others). But all leaders have
the same traits, whether you see them or not. One of the traits that a leader can possess is the
ability to communicate with others. This is a key trait, because how will a leader plan or teach
something to others if you can t communicate with another. But a leader must consult with others
before making a decision and a leader must be some what persuasive. Another trait that a leader
must possess, is the ability to put personal problems aside. By doing this, a leader can make a
better choice and be a role model to others. A leader must also have commitment. No leader should
ever leave his/her followers if something goes wrong. A leader must be focused and determined to
complete the project or problem at hand. A

43. Social Learning Theory
For this assignment, I will be studying social learning theory. Social learning theory was first
proposed by Albert Bandura. It is a theory that emphasizes the importance of observing and
modeling the behaviors, attitudes, and emotional reactions of others, ( Social Learning Theory,
n.d.). There are three main hypotheses of social learningtheory. First, the theory assumes that people
can learn by observing others (Cherry, n.d.). Second, social learning theorybuilds on behaviorism by
suggesting that intrinsic rewards can help a person learn or modify behavior. However, observation
alone does not lead to a change in behavior. There are four main steps involved in whether the
individual can learn based on observation. Those four steps include attention, retention,
reproduction, and motivation (Cherry, n.d.). Social learning theory implies that cognitive processes
(thought patterns) and environmental cues (the behavior of others that may be modeled) are
important for learning.
The assigned readings show that Bandura s original social learning theory was expanded on by
other researchers like Akers. Akers suggested that the frequency, duration, intensity, and priority of
the different associations individuals have with others also has a strong bearing on whether the
individual learns to change his or her behavior (Cochran, 2011, p. 795). In other words, a child is
more influenced by his or her parents because that child sees the parent often if not always

Ethical issues in schizophrenia patients
Introduction
Schizophrenia is a brain disease. Many studies have been conducted regarding the brain
localization of schizophrenia. One study established that schizophrenia is characterized by
significant loss in the grey matter of the brain. The loss was detected to be up to 25% in some
areas and the damage was seen to begin at the parietal (outer) regions of the brain then spreading
to the rest of the regions of the brain over a period of about five years ADDIN EN.CITE

After the Mental Health Institutions shut down, where do you think all their patents went? In the
New York Times, there is a discussion topic about why Psychiatric Institutions Are a Necessity, In
this article, professionals discuss why psychiatric institutions need to come back, and the reason is
to keep mentally ill people out of prisons, get them the care they deserve and for them to have
affordable housing once they leave the Institution. One of the biggest problems we are facing is not
enough government funding for mental healthservices and affordable housing. I fully support for
psychiatric institutions to come back, but not the kind that are shown in horror movies, but clean

But others will leave at some point and live on their own. That is why affordable housing is so
important, it will keep them from becoming homeless. In New York City, congregate housing which
includes shared apartment buildings, scattered site supported housing and community residences is
supplemented with case management and treatment supports. It provides a holistic, systemic
approach to mental health service that sustains the dignity of the individuals and their families. It
keeps recovery central and protects public safety... Unfortunately, there is not enough housing to
address the need, and not enough support to get people out of inappropriate institutions and off the
streets and out of jails. With this special housing, it will keep the patients and the public safer. It
will keep mentally ill people off the streets and give them a safe environment. People with mental
illness can have full, healthy, and safe lives in the community with the right

Marilyn Monroe and Mental Illness By: Whitworth PSY 410 May 20, 2012 Marilyn Monroe
and Mental Illness Marilyn Monroe, her given name Norma Jeane Mortenson, was born on June
1, 1926. The name Norma Jeane Mortenson was baptized as Norma Jeane Baker (Bio True
Story, 2012). When Marilyn was born, during the 1920 s, single parenting was not regarded
highly. Marilyn s mother, Gladys Mortenson, named Marilyn after Norma Tallmadge, famous
actor during the mid 1920 s. Marilyn was born with no father figure in which to influence her life.
Marilyn s birth certificate lists Edward Mortenson as the father, of which he was Gladys second
husband, biographers have since agreed that Norma Jeane s father was actually Stanley Gifford.

During Norma Jeane s childhood she was known to have fantasized that she was the daughter of
Clark Gabel, she had often told school mates that her father was a famous Hollywood actor
(Doll, 1998 2012). It is known that Norma Jeane never did formally meet the man whom she
thought was her biological father, Gifford (Doll, 1998 2012). Doll (1998 2012), When she was a
teenager, she tried to speak with him by telephone. She identified herself as Norma Jeane,
Gladys s daughter, but the party on the other end of the line simply hung up. (Para. 7). It is easy
to underestimate the significance of the stories surrounding Norma Jeane s early life, yet it
appears that she felt a profound sadness at never having known her father. This alone left an
emotional scare. The conflicting stories the fantasies about who her father was, is a mere
representation of her attempts to put her early life into presepective, in spite of a dim past (Doll,
1998 2012). Unfortunately these attempts were not enough to for the actress, it is noted that
shortly before her death, Norma Jeane filled out an official document, witnessed by her personal
secretary, where the father is listed as unknown (Doll, 1998 2012). Family History of Mental

47. Analysis Of Paul s Case
From the subtle quirks and eccentricities in one s tone of speech, to the sensations of rancor and
bitterness that are palpable in a violent outbreak, all human activity is programmed by a complex
phenomenon known as the human personality. The case of what constitutes this enigma is one of
the many controversies that are analyzed and broken apart in Vincent Parrillo s chapter, Causes of
Prejudice. In particular, human temperament is expounded in Parrillo s passage, and further
observed and experimented with in Willa Cather s short story Paul s Case. Parrillo correlates one s
childhood upbringing and surroundings to the maturation of an authoritarian personality, akin to
Paul s rough development that contributes to his fervent prejudice of the middle classand ultimately,
himself. In essence, personality can be construed as something very flexible and compliant at an
early stage of one s life. Parrillo substantiates the relations between a parent and his child, as the
domestic atmosphere contributes largely to the development of authoritarian personality. Parrillo
explicates, If parents assume an excessively domineering posture in their relations with a
child...when such children become adults, they may demonstrate displaced aggression, directing
their hostility against a powerless group to compensate for their feelings of insecurity and fear
(Parillo 581). The growth of authoritarianismis dictated by various social variables, such as the
aforementioned. Witnessing

48. Mongols Dbq
The Mongolians in the 1200s were very barbaric. Throughout most of their endeavors have been
mostly detailed violence. If anything a better word to describe the Mongols were savages. These
ancient warriors conquered and pillaged almost everything of the known world in the 1200s. They
were violent and brutal in their journey to expand and conquer. Mongolians were extremely
violent, lead with a fierce government and a fierce leader known as Genghis Khan. Their ruthless
acts of violence and war has conquered more land than any other known commander. Genghis
Khan himself has conquered approximately 4,860,000 square miles (Document 1 Table) compared
to all the other commander totalling on average, approximately 1,659,166.7 square miles. Another
thing that makes Mongols so violent is the stories of their deeds. Document 4 tells a story about an
army of 300 mongols invaded a Persian city with 3,000 archers and laid waste to everything
including animals. In document 4 it also states the amount of people slaughter from each city based
